Powell
Re: Powell
Wow. Before lock down we were top of the league with Wigan. Not come bback looking great but neither have a few teams and now people are saying Powell should go.
We have played Saints, Catalan, Wigan, Warrington and Salford. 4 of the best teams in the league.
Wow. Is all I can say.

Re: Powell
At the moment Daryl is like a one legged man in an ass kicking competition... A settled squad with consistent fixtures we see a different cas... As it is barring the catalans game we've matched 3 of the so called big hitters when In reality we should have had numerical advantage in players and I'm sure the results would've been different, oh, and let's not forget OUR missing players, but, let's not that get in the way of the village idiots calling for daryls head.
what doesn't kill me simply makes me...stranger.
Re: Powell
Don't think he's counting Salford as a top team, but, anyway.

Powell has taken some very ordinary blokes and made them cracking players mind.
This 100%.
Re: Powell
I was naming all the teams we have played.... 4 of which are the best teams in the league.
How often would we be expected to win against these teams minus Salford away from Wheldon Road?? Not much at all.
Re: Powell
I see what you meant now
Would be expected to win around one in the four (but not saints away)???

Re: Powell
To be fair the only people saying he should go are the usual forum wind up merchants. With the sounds coming out of the club on return to training, and coupled with the win over Saints before lockdown I think most expected better performances since the restart.Swagger wrote: ↑11 Sep 2020, 17:56 Wow. I didn't watch the game last night but listened on the radio. Dave Woods said Powell looked shattered at the final whistle. He might be thinking can he squeeze a tune out of this squad anymore?. Is the funds available for a rebuild? Does he get the full support of board and D.O.R? Is his apparent reluctance to try youngsters down to the club's slow development of juniors? Maybe there is more to it than we as fans see.
As a side story Kyle Amor was a guest alongside Dave Woods on radio 5 last night, and at half time someone in the production team had sourced some pizza for the commentary team. Amor flatly refused a couple of slices despite being egged on by Woods as he was on a strict diet on the run up to Saints match tonight. I aren't sure many in our squad would be as strong willed!

Re: Powell
The more I watch other Superleague teams play, the more I think Powell could coach the other teams better than he's coaching the Cas team. Even I don't know what that means ?

Re: Powell
Watching Tom Holmes tonight, another player Powell let go who would have been a cracking back up half.

Before you start saying he wants to be a first choice, if he had been offered a good enough wage to stop him looking somewhere else which hd wasn't.

What's a "good enough wage" for a back up halfback then?
The salary cap exists. Cas aren't a rich club.

Listen to jon wells interview from pre season before 2019 season , he told james Deighton we was up to the salary cap , if last year we was up to the salary cap and so are Saint Helens , I know which squad I would rather have , tells me a lot of players on way too much coin

Re: Powell
If the cap means all teams have the same money to spend apart from the marquee players then Cas have done a poor job. Some other teams allegedly might pay Inc different way
Re: Powell
The cap means clubs can spend the same basic amount of (I think) £2.1M. It doesn’t mean they do. There’s also additions that can be spent for:
Club trained players
Players with 10 years service at same club
International players
Players from other sports (Burrell at Warrington)
As well as others I’m sure.

So it's not a level playing field then, no wonder money talks and the top 4 clubs will stay the top 4 clubs. Powell will go if that's the case.

Re: Powell
I just don’t think some of you understand , I get we don’t have much money and that with the salary cap you can get away with if you have academy players and things they sometimes don’t count on your salary cap . I know that we don’t have a marquee players and some clubs do , but you’ve got to understand even jon wells has confirmed that we are pretty much up to the cap . That tells me we’re paying way too much money for some players , look at our 2017 team and our team now and I know which one I would rather have , for some reason we can’t manage to get a half back back up in

Re: Powell
If that's the case Powell and Wells need to look in the mirror and realise its them who picked the players and the players wages. It's back fired big time.
