Three years

Post by Tamworth Tiger » 18 Aug 2020, 16:46

Just seen it’s three years yesterday I think since we won the League Leaders Shield
I know a lot of fans say that topping the table counts for nothing, but winning that trophy on our home ground was one of the best sporting moments of my life and of so many Cas fans. The atmosphere was amazing. Thanks for the memories

Wow
Time flies
Finishing top of the league was always the aim when I was growing up
Anyone can win a knock out tournament but finishing #1 after 29 league games takes some doing

Lived to see the club top the league.
Thought I’d never see the day.
I can’t put into words what it meant to me.
One of the best days of my life.

Home ground.
League leaders shield.
Against that lot over the common........icing on the cake.

Yes a great night
Accompanied by my family and father in law who introduced me to Rugby.
He has been going down the lane since 1937.
Long wait but his joy was only equal to our last gasp win in the semi.

An amazing year all be it a disappointing end, but we were hands down the best team by a country mile that season and a real joy to watch. Walking down the lane on way to a match wondering how many would we win by, rather than wondering if we would win was a very odd feeling that I doubt we’ll ever feel again on such a consistent basis.

Them where the days Daytona walking down Weldon Lane smell of Maltkins (if it's stilled called that)Whifting around in the air knowing we were going to be in for a treat

Seems a lifetime ago not three years

My brother began watching Cas in the 1940s. This was the last match he was able to attend before his death a few weeks later. It gave me some comfort that this was a fitting finale. Mine would be beating Leeds in a major final, I haven't forgiven them for their tactics in the 69 Championship Final

I also loved the atmosphere we generated at away games that year. Travelling in huge numbers & making a proper noise. Fantastic & also emotional for me at times.

Still a case of “unfinished business” as far as I’m concerned.
The game against Wakefield and the semi-Final against Saints will live long in the memory, BUT it’s always overshadowed by the failure to finish the job and take the big prize.
We need to win a major trophy.

it was a great night and credit to quite a few wakey fans who sucked it up and stayed to applaud us as we received the dustbin lid.
it was only a few months before i didn't think i'd live to see it, but i'm sure those performances pulled me through.

2017 will haunt me forever and a day. I could have died an happy man had we won it. We would have also gone down as one of the best teams in SL history to win the GF. The records books will remember us for all the wrong reasons that year. No team has ever dominated the league like we have then totally fallen apart on the only day that matters.

Daryl won’t go until he has eclipsed 2017.
I just know it will happen, I believe in him. He might take the long road but we will get there.

I’m confident. Generally, the teams with the best ‘spine’ of full back, halves and hooker win trophies. In 2021, ours will be Evalds, Trueman, Richardson and McShane. For years, we’ve seen teams win trophies with pretty average players everywhere else apart from these positions. Added to the fact we have one of the best forwards in Super League in Watts, I’m confident we’ll win a major trophy next season.
To be fair, I think we’re in with a shout this year if O’Brien fits in quickly at full back and we can keep the O’Brien/Trueman/Richardson/McShane spine fit and playing together regularly.
