Matt Cook

Post by Jonny1975 » 01 Aug 2020, 00:26

Have it on very good authority that Cookie is not being offered a new deal and will be released at end of the season. Personally think he had another season in him as a back up squad member, but will not be offered any deal. Maybe a victim of the shrinking salary cap but for me a bit short sighted by the club.

Been a good player for cas if he's not bothered by any injury or ailment id have been keeping him for next year unless as said above we've got somebody else in mind to take his place ...

Cook is probably a victim from our inability to be able to spend up to the full cap next year. Didn't Wells say many squads could be running with up to 5 less members, that or players brought in on much reduced contracts compared to the ones being allowed to leave.

In the light of ZERO news from the club, rumours abound.

You can have many a laugh at posts that that have many pages of contributions that turn out to be absolute rubbish.

Well over half are from people who know nothing and have no truth in them at all.

I'll look back at this when we have club news.

I wonder which pile it will end up in.?

It’s all about sensitivity and timing I expect. Not wanting to upset peter by spending on paul.

Sad state of affairs really

i think its sadly probably true. been a genuine club man but i think powell will be looking to lower the average age of the squad to be more in keeping with the "6 again" rule

Whilst there is some tripe posted on here, I can assure you that what I generally post has been on the money,or I wouldn't post it. Quite happy to private message anyone who wants to know further details as to how I know the situation with Matt Cook.

IF true, I'd personally shake the blokes hand and thank him for putting in the effort that he has while he's been at our club. He's been a professional and gone about his work without any fuss.

Always been a fan of Cook. I’d like him to stay, but as others have said it depends who is brought in (if anyone) to replace him.

Agree
Makes mcmeeken look MEEK in relative fair comparison, and the game at home against Wigan last season was his finest hour. A dominant bench role literally smashing Wigan to bits alongside Mitch Clark (whom I could see us signing again one day)

Mitch Clark, now there's a bloke who didn't get a fair crack. Some of these blokes get so frustrated warming the bench that when they do finally get on the pitch its all over, if you know what I mean. Young Jacques O'Neil is another example. Let's hope some of these blokes who are on the edge of the 1st team get a fair crack before the end of THIS season, so we and they know where they stand for their futures at our club. 🐯

Seems weird to think that cookie princess and the snake have all now but left after being our main signings a few years ago.

Cookie has my utmost respect for his efforts at cas. I mean REALLY...

Good luck to Matt. A genuinely nice bloke, who has never put a foot wrong at the club. No controversy, no bells and whistles, just head down and graft. A good player to boot also.
