As lovely as Saints new ground is, The best company they could find for the naming rights is a vape company and their shirt sponsor is Cash convertors....hardly blue chip brands.
I was also a neutral supporter at many a major final they got to,and to my recollection they had more drunk and abusive fans than any other!

You must be a very small person, if you think the view darn lane, no matter where I stand the view has been perfectCasAttack wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 12:11 pmI appreciate our ground and Wakefields grounds are crap. The facilities are crap and at points the view can be crap. But those saints fans moaning aint visiting every week. Once or twice a season for 80 minutes. Big wow! Im sure all us Cas fans want better facilities and a shiny new stadium but there isn't much we can do except wait.

If a high ball is put up you lose sight off it.
Same at the back of the WRE.
Apart from that views are pretty good from the rest of the ground.

To be fair, most of the under cover part of our ground has restricted views at certain angles due to the steel girders holding the roof up. Apart from that, I love OUR home groundold cas lass wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 11:44 amOnly place I think the view is iffy is in the main stand.Frankas wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 11:33 amYou must be a very small person, if you think the view darn lane, no matter where I stand the view has been perfectCasAttack wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 12:11 pmI appreciate our ground and Wakefields grounds are crap. i don't know what to make of the criticism. i myself take up my place at the wheldon road end every game. i may visit the toilets near the arthur atkinson gates and have a drink in legends bar after. these are the only bits of the ground i see. i think it will be similar for away fans as they are hardly likely to make a full inspection of the stadiums facilities.
the wigan fans usually only have to put up with our facilities for about 70 minutes.

I think your been a bit generous lurcher with 70 mins
Yeah, sure our toilets could be better, but once a game I'm sure is not a problem for most. I've stood in the Princess st stand for more years than I care to remember and we have a girder not too far away that we always have a joke about, in that we'd have to take it with us if we ever move. Also previous correspondents have hit the nail on the head, when they say many away fans like to come to Wheldon road for the atmosphere and closeness to the pitch, but I dare say many away players have a opposite view!!

on the other hand a poster on the wigan board is complaining that some clubs won't have to face cas in front of a packed wheldon road but will play in a far less hostile neutral stadium which is much easier. shows how they fear our atmosphere.

I was lucky enough to be at Knowsley Road when we played them in the last ever league game there. Cunningham scored the try that sealed it underneath the posts and they beat is 40-30.
The atmosphere was absolutely belting. Was one of my favourite away grounds growing up was Knowsley Road, a proper old school ground surrounded by houses.
Saints fans are quick to point out our failing stadium, but don't realise that not too long ago, they were watching some of the best St Helen's teams ever in a stadium not too dissimilar.
FWIW, I've been to the new Saints ground twice and the atmosphere has been appalling. I don't like it and have chosen not to go on a few occasions.

Heritage 1926, is that when the Cas fans were singing Barmy Army nonstop for most of the second half at knowsley rd? Rate atmosphere that day even though we lost, but the Cas fans kept singing

I think that game was the ‘99 play off semi. Might of occurred at both thoughTigers1926 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 9:11 pmHeritage 1926, is that when the Cas fans were singing Barmy Army nonstop for most of the second half at knowsley rd? 1997 semi-final not 1999. The chant right through the second half and all the time that Ellery Hanley was trying to address the Saints crowd was unbelievable. A fantastic atmosphere, I loved that night regardless of the fact that we eventually lost. Still have the game on an old video which I kept simply for the crowd atmosphere.Fumper27 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 8:02 amI think that game was the ‘99 play off semi. Re: This scared me - Away fans boycott Wheldon Road
Saints fans are moaning about us because, despite only winning the league leaders trophy in recent years, We have been competing with saints more and more, they don’t like that we are a pretty decent side now, they don’t like that we are signing players like Evalds and they see us as a threat!! They would t give a toss about our ground if they were still thrashing us by 70 points, like in the bad old millward days and before!! ..... if we got the new ground at glasshouton, it wouldn’t cost the club anything anyway (other than the money spent in previous years in plans etc) so it would hardly cost any of our salary cap money, seems they are just sulking a bit about losing Thompson to me, 43 year old James Graham is back to save em now, say they should cheer up a bit!!
