2 Rugby Union and an NRL side interested in him for next season.
I can’t see him making it in the NRL. He’s nowhere near consistent enough.
He’s nowhere near as good as he was in 2017 when he signed his last deal. Players (quite rightly) expect a pay rise when they improve, but we simply can’t justify giving one to a player who has declined.
I think he’ll be lucky to find a club willing to improve on his current deal. Good luck to him if he does, but it shouldn’t be Cas.
Most players that go over there seem to adapt a different attitude, thinks thats all it would be with mike if he were to go
Hes certainly got the skillset to succeed

I’m not convinced. I’ve not seen much of that “skillset” since 2017. Doesn’t make many metres (considering he usually plays the full 80, he doesn’t even take many carries), doesn’t make many tackles and doesn’t have much of a passing/offloading game.
I see him as a good SL player, but nothing more. He’s easily replaceable and his form over the last two years doesn’t suggest he would make it in the NRL.

As I have stated several times if a player wants to leave the club leave. Simples.

It's not always a case of they want to leave . You'd be stupid not to see what other offers are out there . It's a job at the end of the day £££ matter .

McMeeken has a value, as do all players.
He'll go to the highest bidder.
Few players have a club loyalty.
Times have changed from when players were 'One club men'.
Powell knows what time of day it is.
He's not irreplaceable and probably has little club loyalty.
Some players will play for Cas for less.
I suspect he's not one of them.

I agree.
Mike will either stay as he thinks chances of success development and settled happiness and mental well-being are worth more to him than an extra 20-40k per year.
And he's within his right to choose either way.

Isn't his brother employed by NZ Warriors, wasn't it always the long term plan that he went there - sure I read this on a thread on here at some point.
We have many good second rowers, not a position I worry about losing anyone from.

He’s involved in developing the youth progression routes for NZ players, but isn’t linked to the Warriors. Think his job is about monitoring and keeping in touch with young NZ players as they progress through the ranks in NZ and Australia, presumably hoping that they will choose NZ over Australia (and now Tonga/Samoa etc).
No NRL team is going to sign Mike McMeeken just because his brother has a low-level role in NZRL.

I disagree Mike wouldn't have a chance in the NRL anybody who watched Williams for Canberra yesterday saw a lad that had improved 100% for playing with the best players around him
Given how well the English imports are doing in the NRL wouldn't surprise me at all if a club took a chance on him

More have failed than succeeded, and, I feel mcmeekin would be one than failed. If he wants away...bye bye I won't stop you.
what doesn't kill me simply makes me...stranger.

He may well be grounded at Cas next year and beyond due to clubs not being able to throw money about in the figures he’s talking.
Ie. We will likely match his offers, any skullduggery by agents won’t be tolerated.

He may well be without a club, or have to accept a significant pay cut.

Not fussed if he left, his form since 2017 has been poor So I don’t think he will be missed

He's a good player but a lot of the time looks disinterested.

I'm sure Mike will look a different player with Wire next season.

There are VERY few players who leave Daryl Powell and improve under a different coach.

You’d say that about Gigot, but look what happened to him. Demanded too much money from everyone, and in the end nobody was willing to pay it and signed other players.
Now we’re facing a challenging and uncertain future. Clubs can’t reduce existing contracts, but they can certainly save some cash by not signing new players who are asking big money.
