Apparently Luke Gale looked great today against Wakey. Did Richardson give any clue as to whether he is going to aqequately fill Gale's boots?

They know each other inside out and have recruited former SL players like Anthony England too.
We started taking off first team players from about 30 mins and a lot of them coming on were kids. Cannot read anything into the game or the result. I thought the kids did extremely well and our forwards were pretty good in the first half too. Poor execution but that's to be expected with out full spine out and players playing together that don't or won't ordinarily.
Context, we had missing: Rankin, Feki, Blair, Shenton, Trueman, Watts, McShane, Cook, Moors, Foster, McMeeken, Holmes, Massey, Milner, Griffin. Practically an entire team.
I didn't say same. I said largely the same. Of the 20 players, only 6 were making their debut. 4 new signings including former SL players Anthony England and Greg Johnson. 2 academy promoted players.
Rest played for Bradford last season. It's hardly the new squad put together completely random and overhauled as made out to be.

14 v 20
Crowd was 3300 ish
Edit - sorry bit slow posting, I was answering an earlier post which has been addressed by others.
Great to be back down the lane anyway... Could be our last year there if they get the new ground done for 2021 season.

In all due respect there were only 2 academy players making there senior debuts today because 5/6 others played 1 game in the 1865 cup last season in a heavy defeat to barrow.HuddsTigers wrote: ↑26 Dec 2019, 14:58tigerfeat wrote: ↑26 Dec 2019, 14:40How on gods earth do you get that Bradford team is the same one as last season ?HuddsTigers wrote: ↑26 Dec 2019, 14:37 Bradford's side is still largely the same one as it was last season. I’ll say it again the Bradford team had as many kids in as us most of which played a lot of minutes compared to ours.
Yes it’s not our first team and we are at a stage of the year when these results can happen. It will not have any bearing on our chances for the year but it does highlight that the squad isn’t quite as deep as some people have suggested.
Re: Boxing Day - Team
It was a friendly, however the above post sums it up perfectly.braytontiger wrote: ↑26 Dec 2019, 14:23 To put things in perspective Bradford are a part time team that’s been put together in the past 6 weeks with a few journey men and some decent youngsters, they will struggle to make the play offs in the championship.
We had a starting 13 in the first half that should have been good enough to open up a 10/16 point lead for our youngsters to defend. That said Bradford had just as many youngsters in there team as ourselves, again our young players don’t look neither fit enough or tough enough,it should be very worrying that we get good quality youngsters at 16 but by the time they are 20 they haven’t improved a jot.
Could I just add that Bradford had a much smaller squad on duty today and did suffer a major injury early on.

Re: Boxing Day - Team
Given we had 15 first team players not playing I’d say so. The players coming in are, in the main, better than the ones they’ve replaced.

Declan Gregory looked very sharp at Hooker, coming on for O’Neill, however he appears to be smaller than Robbie Burrow.
Apart from that not much to get excited about. Eden chimed in the line we’ll from Full back well but then threw some wild passes which wasn’t entirely surprising.
Im annoyed we lost but glad I went

I was very impressed with Declan Gregory.
For me , his performance was one of the few highlights of the game.
No idea how old he is, but his tackling, support play and enthusiasm were excellent.

Wakey had a weak team out but there isn't much doubt in my mind Gale will do very well next season at LeedsAstralPancakes wrote: ↑26 Dec 2019, 14:55 Apparently Luke Gale looked great today against Wakey. Did Richardson give any clue as to whether he is going to aqequately fill Gale's boots?

Ironically Danny Richardson kicked the game off and it sailed straight out of play. Apart from that you could tell he’s super league quality

Only Joe Brown (signed from Wigan academy) and Brad Gallagher had played a tiny figure amount of games from their starting line up. (2 and 1 respectively).
Adam Rooks played 6 times for KR in SL and CC last season if you want to count him too.
Rest double figures except for Greg Johnson who seemed to be behind players at Salford I think and maybe was injured but has loads of SL experience.
Bench wise, the two debutant kids and then Scurr and Foster played 1 game. Doyle 4 games last year, Foggin-Johnston double figures. Barlow experienced forward before drugs ban.
A lot have regular game time and Championship experience between them. Sure they have lost experience like Webster, Ryan, Wildie. Just think when you look at it on paper, that's a workmanlike Championship side that will still be competitive, playing against our reserves and U19s in second half.
Worth pointing out that in our first team Hepi, Graham and Summers don't have SL experience. O'Neill only played 12 games.
And if we are going on this forum, Clare, Matautia, Turner are Championship players so not that much difference

Merry Christmas all.
Love the idea that there are people who think there are any takeaways from today. Not one performance mattered on either side of the ball. It's that simple.
Bit of a cobweb blower for the players and an afternoon out of the house for the crowd. That's all today is.
