How good are Salford

Post by stevieblunder » 04 Oct 2019, 22:26

I was there for our play off game.
Came away thinking we wouldn't have scored before Tuesday.
My Son thought Wednesday.

After tonight I've changed my opinion.
They are a well drilled TEAM with an exceptional coach.
I stress the TEAM as without Hastings they are pretty average.
Ok, put Evalds a bit above that.

Could they trouble Saints.

I thought not 2 weeks ago.

Now I'm not so sure.

See your point Casjunction.

We did play them last week.
We've signed 2 of their players for next year.

Thought it relevant to how we have gone this year an how we may go next year.

They played exceptionally well last night, I'm sure most of super league will be behind them for next week's final.

Will be interesting to see how they cope without Hastings next year though.

Extra linkage.
My daughter and her chap are going in Cas colours and supporting Salford.
I'm sure they will not be the only one's.

Proof that big name players, budget differences and recruiting on name aren’t the be all and end all.

Culture, attitude, application and unity along with execution of a game plan far more important.

They literally have Hastings, Lussick and Lolohea they have more than enough "big names".

The poor little Salford low budget nonsense that the media have tried peddling is a joke, Hastings will be getting more than nearly anyone else in the league.

Lolohea that was sacked off by Leeds? Joey Lussick is hardly a big name player.

Salford are like us on a cheaper budget. Rag tag team of players cast off by other clubs, unfashionable players, mixed with a sprinkling of talent.

Lolohea hastings sio and lussick were all NRL first grade players. Inu has played in 3 NRL grand finals and his a dual code international. Nial evalds is seen as one of if not the best full back in the comp.
Then you add in all the ex wiganers and the play off experience they have gained it’s not the under dog story some would like to make it.
What you could say is that they haven’t got the biggest squad so you have to congratulate the conditioning team for keeping them at the top of there game all season.

And there is the truth of the matter. They have kept their best players fit and on the park for the majority of the season and it shows. If us, Wigan, Hull etc.. had have had all of our best players on the park all season then Salford would have been nowhere near the 5 never mind the GF. Thats not taking anything away from them, they’ve been brilliant and I’ll be shouting for them next Saturday. We keep going on about new signings, we’ll I’d like to see us sign a decent conditioner, it’s a more important role than some of us give credit for.

Salford's conditioner was a bouncer in Huddersfield before they picked him up!

You say this about Salford but they have spent more money on wages then any other team in super league last five years people forget this.

Erm, probably not given teams like Wigan, Saints, Hull, Leeds and Warrington have consistently spent up to the cap, used dispensations and the marquee ruling

Hastings is marquee territory, koucash is paying him 250k as part of his legacy leaving the club as owner.
