So.... Gale departure confirmed. Richardson is a done deal but can't be confirmed until after GF.
So how is our 17 shaping up next year??

For me I would play Pete from the bench he gives us so many options as a utility back we can fill the other 3 spots with forwards.

Rankin (if confirmed) defensive position needs to improve

Eden
Shenton
Blair
Feki

Richardson
Trueman

Watts
McShane
Cook
Holmes
McMeekan
Milner

Jesse
Smith
Millington
Pete

Moors
Massey
Foster
Clarkson
Hepi
O'Neill
Ellis?
Turner
Clare
Olpherts
Peachey
Storey
Carr

If Minikin and Maher have gone this is pretty much our squad if Rankin gets confirmed as staying.
What do we need?
I would love a true full back but not sure we can afford any from the NRL. Would love Evalds but doubt he would come to us.

Then depending what Millo and Moors do I would love a number 10 to start with Watts and play Cook from the bench.

Are we happy with this squad?

From what I've seen of Griffin he's impressed me a lot hed defo be in my 17
If Edens the no 2 and not Olpherts id be happy with the squad
Richardson will put Rankin in lots of gaps id be ok with him at full back next season as long as we got are eyes focused on a very good full back to come in at a latter date
The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have

I knew George was the youngest of the Griffin brothers, but didn't realise he was still only 27! not even in his prime yet. Good business.

Not sure why we aren't looking at someone like Brad Abbey(?) at Canberra, i think somebody posted something about him a while back.

The kid has pace to burn, and his 1st team options look limited if that Chanze fella has got a new deal and Canberra could move Wighton to full back as 2nd choice with Williams cluttering up their backline options.

Obviously transfer fee and quota space would come into it. But we need some speed through the middle!

If Richardson signing is true we need to be patient and give two young half backs time to bond and learn each others game. If it pulls off and we can hold onto both of them I think we may have something special for years to come.

Agreed. Could be very exciting for sure. Just need to change it up a little in our attack as defences have figured out our play

I'd imagine the hard part would be gettin Abbey a visa due to the lack of games he's played so far.

Saints fans fair opinion is that Richardson won’t ever make it there. I ask the question why is he therefore only good enough for us (if that is the case)

Just a question...!

I’ve not been overly impressed or fearful whenever facing him tbh.

Millington or moors; why don’t we just be bloody straight with them and tell them we need more now than they can offer.

I mentioned relegation earlier: I bet we’ll be in a struggle next year. Just a feeling I want shut of ASAP!

Trouble with Saints is that they have two good halves in Fages and Lomax. Probably won't get the game time there, and I have no doubt that Saints already have a young kid lined up coming through the academy who could fill in, as well as other players who can step in to cover 6 if need be.

Saints and Wigan produce so many players that them leaving Saints is nothing to worry about IMO. I also remember Bradford fans saying to us that Gale wasn't a good signing, wasn't good enough and watch and see. Look how that turned out.

If there's one thing Powell and co are consistent at, it's developing quality halves. Truey is on that path, Gale became a Man of Steel, Sneyd looked great despite a young kid and got a big move to Hull, even Aston and Finn stepped up to the plate when they came into the side too.

Re: Millo or Moors, I'd suggest the club know better about their prospects and prognosis than us fans who see the players only on the field. My gut feeling is that Millo plays busted because that's the sort of person he is, stepping up for the team. In reality, as a club we should have recruited someone better to step into his shoes and be gradually reducing down his workload in the team.

I've no worries about our two young half backs
Are forwards were miles off what you need to have to win big games at Salford that's what worries me tho Griffin as I've said before will be a good player for us so there is that

Dodd and Welsby have also been provided with opportunities. I will say it again fanook these journey men off. Loads of talented academy lads in waiting. Pay them accordingly and show some bolloooocks. Stop hiding behind its a big step up etc.

Don’t expect anything to change. Some of the offers made to lads they were wanting to play reserve grade was nothing short of slave labour. Needless to say more than half walked away. Cannot blame them tbh

Tiger feet speaking honestly and truthfully now. The club have some exceptional youth products at this moment in time. I am going to be totally honest this amounts to about 4-6 true prospects across the current board. My question is this “Who is going to provide a cautious and supportive platform for these guys to perform and come through”?
Secondly Supporter’s also have a massive part to play! They tend to demand fantastic top range signings immediately. Example to use Shenny as a test case. Can yo imagine the uproar if he did not come back and was replaced by an home grown cheaper club trained salary capped player?if we all want to progress we All have to get on board.

Pretty happy with the squad and announced additions. If it had not been for the injuries this season we would have got into the top three.
However, too often we looked clueless in the opposition's 20. That was down to playing with one specialist halfback for most of the season. No problem with Richardson coming in but Ellis has to go and we need a quality replacement.

Announce Richardson and one other halfback please.
