Player has a decision to make, he can speak to the team and hear what they had to say. Perhaps he went into a meeting with Cas who said that they would offer him a new deal next year but on reduced terms. Leeds could have topped that, which makes it an easier decision for LG. Easier to let him go now for a fee and reinvest in the squad.

That being said, if it is true, I can't help but feel sad and disappointed that LG never got to sign off with any kind of trophy win with us. He's been a huge part of what we've developed here.
He got the league leaders shield which I know is rubbished as a hub cap but still
That 2017 team was a terrific team unbeatable for a period and he was a large part of that

Only 75k will count on cap tho rather than the 150k that counted against merrin

I don't blame Powell it's way people go about things these days afraid to come out with the truth
It was obvious to everyone who saw Luke's interview with Brian Carney what would be occurring

100k
It is 75k as Gale is club trained by Leeds.

It’s an astute bit of business from Leeds, IF Gale can get anywhere near his 2017 form.
Bit it’s a massive IF.

Jarrod Samut being offered around by Wigan. I think hes a maverick type of player that offers something different from what we have. Could he be the old head to be brought in with Richardson?

Assuming Rankin is staying id rather use the money on a quality fullback. Rankin would then be half/full back cover.

Do we really want to use a quota spot on a cover player though? Could be on two depending on where matautia fits into the lineup

Probably not but i think Rankin is a done deal for next year (and he's our best full back currently at the club). If it is a done deal it's pointless signing Sammut.

Rankin offers far more than Matautia imo.

Gale is 31 or so. Not many years left. He has been offered Marquee money to pretty much end his career. Fully understand why he has done it. He's a Leeds lad so has no loyalty to Cas.

You would have to think he would have been on that at Cas, so he must be going for more money.

I hope he’s getting as much as he possibly can.
He knows he holds the cards - they need him more than he needs them . He’s the only one who can give them the salary cap dispensation they need.
