Yes I remember buying a pork pie and it costing a quid and saying I could get ten at home for that much the guy just said but your not at home now sonny.great day and great memmorys.will they ever return ?

Must have been a hell of a pork pie, as in 1969 a pint of bitter was 1/10, so nearly 11 pints for a quid. Lager was 2/-, so 10 pints for a pound. Petrol was 4/- a gallon, so 5 gallons for £1.
I was at college and drew £2 a week for leisure activities. That pork pie was nearly £40 in today's money.

Thought this thread was about the little things we remember about the day. I am old enough to remember when we where a force and the size of the town didn't matter. I am also [REMOVED] in Tenerife.
