Re: squad vs wakefield
Aston never has and never will be a Super League player.
Rather throw one of our own kids in than someone we got lumbered with as part as an awful deal done by Steve Gill.

Both not regulars, we need trueman to stand up and be counted this week.
My worry is our forwards v Their forwards.
Which ever pack gets on top wins imo.
Re: squad vs wakefield
This for me too, Mata'utia's link up play from the back has been missing since he moved into the halves.jackknife wrote:This for me
Mata’utia
Clare
Minikin
Shenton
Eden
Trueman
Ashton
Watts
Milner
Smith
Holmes
McMeeken
Massey
Clark
Moors
O’Neill
Jsl
My only concern will be how well Aston defends on that right side, having not seen much of him play so I'm not sure how good his defence is, nonetheless I imagine he'd be targeted by their big men.

You and I would look sharp against Featherstone Gateman.
Re: squad vs wakefield
I’m very much hoping we’ll keep Fifita quiet and not allow Pauli Pauli to look good. Because he’s not. He’s a lump.
Fifita however is good if not best managed. Gang tackle every time & wrap the ball up. We should have been practising on junior as to how to deal with him as they’re similar.
I’m looking to Oliver Holmes having a big Easter.
Pretty happy with Daniel Smith by the way. He’s got a bit of Mongrel about him, is an awkward runner and looks like he could be coached into a good laker.

the Wakefield fans seem to think they are going to smash us in the forwards, Pauli looks well out of shape the weather is warmer he could run out of juice, it is suggested that Hampshire and Reynolds will be at half back both will have something to prove, Score CAS 32 Wakefield 24 attendance 8, 500
Re: squad vs wakefield
Another point about Smith is he would off-load the ball every tackle if he could think he was under orders keep it simple against giants

We’d sold over 7,000 at the start of the week
I’d expect over 10,000

They do not gateman, you're being mischievous, most people are hoping for a good performance, it was all doom and gloom at the beginning of the week but with a chance that Lynne and Wood might play fans hopes have been raised.gateman wrote:the Wakefield fans seem to think they are going to smash us in the forwards, Pauli looks well out of shape the weather is warmer he could run out of juice, it is suggested that Hampshire and Reynolds will be at half back both will have something to prove, Score CAS 32 Wakefield 24 attendance 8, 500
Re: squad vs wakefield
Cas is always a hard place to get a win even with a full team (especially in recent years) so with 8 of our first choice 17 missing, this is a really tough ask. I wouldn't say that we will smash you in the forwards but we do need to get the upper hand to win the game. How Hampshire and Reynolds work together will be key to how well we play.
Bookies have you as red hot favourites but i hope we can put up a good show and try to pinch the win.
Weather looking good so will be a good crowd and atmosphere

Re: squad vs wakefield
Wakefield fans have a spring in their step right now and rightly so , they are playing good rugby , they are tying up their stars and getting important players signed up, they are improving off the field too so it's only fair that they think they have more than a chance tomorrow night , both squads are decimated with injury and I dont think the bookies have this one pegged right , it's a 50/50 call for me with perhaps wakey handling the respective injury crisis better than us might see them take home the 2 points, hope I'm wrong though.

Re: squad vs wakefield
I have a horrible feeling Wakey will edge this. They are certainly due one. If we defend like we have done then it is going to be really tough. Hope the bookies are right but I am finding it hard to have confidence after how we have gone recently, especially with Cook and Millo out now.

I'm hearing players playing who aren't in the squad again. I expect another fifita thing again but not him.

Yes I think your right there derby, can’t see miller or brough making it though.
Wood and Lynn possibly, both are in the squad.

Re: squad vs wakefield
Got it on good authority that Ashton and Trueman are the starting halves tonight. Pete back to Fullback.
