Re: Eddie Hemmings
I thought Eddie and Stevo were a breath of fresh air when they first presented Rugby on Sky, giving it a slick Australian feel. however they both stayed on for far too long and become parodies of themselves.
I like Phil Clarke but he is sitting in a role of playing Devils advocate and I'm sure he doesn't believe himself some of the rubbish he comes out with.
I think one of the problems comes with familiarity as we can see up to four games a weekend and the commentators have to put a positive spin on what they see.
We can't expect them really to say ' this match is utterly crap and I have seen more excitement in a Doctors waiting room '... or can we.

Re: Eddie Hemmings
Don’t wish him any ill will but it’s ten years too late at least. I partly blame him for the demise of Rugby League in Britain, His useless inept understanding of the rules and his pandering to incompetent pundits that offer little or nothing to the product. Carney is the only one I would keep from the current presentation. His cheerleading for saints and his faux matiness “bantz” make me want to scream.
If you compare it to the Union on BT it looks like it’s produced on a shoestring.

Re: Eddie Hemmings
hes worse than eddie waring / ray french & i think he does damage the image of our game. i remember last year when he apologised to viewers whilst commenting how boring a game was because there was no score at half time in stead of praising the defence of both teams, what an idiot.

Re: Eddie Hemmings
Eddie hasn't been great in recent years but he is leagues away from being anywhere near as bad as the other two you name.yorky wrote:hes worse than eddie waring / ray french & i think he does damage the image of our game. i remember last year when he apologised to viewers whilst commenting how boring a game was because there was no score at half time in stead of praising the defence of both teams, what an idiot.
An embarrassment that either of them were allowed anywhere near a microphone to commentate on anything.
Re: Eddie Hemmings
I see Eddie’s new live child is “super” Benny Westwood. How embarrassing does it sound? No other sport commentator refers to its players / participants in such a manner. To top it off, Terry o’Connor just done the same!!!
Re: Eddie Hemmings

Re: Eddie Hemmings
According to Phil Caplan it is Bill Arthur taking over. A bit of a promotion from doing the touchline every other game to becoming the main commentator.yorky wrote:do we know whos taking over from Eddie yet, Bill Arthur must be the favourite?

Re: Eddie Hemmings
For a man that has watched so many games, for so many years it is incredible just how little he understands of the game. I would like to say he will not be missed, but I am sure Sky will have the worse replacement ever lined up.
Re: Eddie Hemmings
I’ve lost count at the number of mistakes Bill Arthur has made whilst commentating on this on game today
Re: Eddie Hemmings
The guy is rubbish, don't fully understand the game.
