Arthur Atkinson?

Hi.. I was looking at old pictures of Castleford and came across a few of the new star cinema...and got me thinking about our Captain and Cas legend Arthur Atkinson. My dad used to work for Townends fruit and veg firm who had the small warehouse next door to the star back in the late 50s early 60s. at some point Arthur's wife worked in the office upstairs and i can still remember her talking to me as a 5-6 year old whenever my dad took me with him in his lorry for the day. My question is...did they have any children does anyone know?...iv'e tried looking it up but it doesn't seem to tell you anywhere. Would anyone know the answer i wonder?

Hi, according to Arthur's nephew. Arthur had one child - a daughter Gillian - who emigrated to Australia. Arthur's wife followed later, once Gillian had settled.

athur lived a few doors down from us on smawthorne lane and as far as i know he lived on his own. always very smart when he turned out.
