Strong rumour that they will sign Gigot, go over the salary cap and then challenge the cap as illegal. Hope the RFL are ready to stand their ground......

Given it’s a “live cap”, they shouldn’t be able to go over their limit.

Well, it looks like they are going to do it and challenge afterwards.

The RFL can refuse to register him as a Toronto player, which if played would mean he's played illegally, which could have more ramifications for them including a) points deductions and b) removing their membership.

They signed up as a member of the RFL and to abide by laws. My thought is that they may pay their dual reg team to sign him and then dual reg him.

It’s an interesting one. Does being in breach of operational rules mean the RFL can take pre-emptive action by refusing to register the player? That’s not something that they have done previously, even though other clubs have breached the cap (admittedly unbeknown to the RFL beforehand or at the time).

The argument was that Toronto got into Super League on merit by winning promotion.
As opposed to parachuted into Super League.
On attaining promotion, they l presume were appraised of the rules of the competition and agreed to them and made then super duper headline grabbing signing of SBW.
If they now receive a dispensation it makes yet another mockery of our fine sport.
If the are relegated will it damage the sport irreparably?
If they survive by giving exemptions will it be the catalyst the game needs to prosper?
The answer is no on both counts.
The problem starts at the top.
Weak, unimaginative and pompous leadership.
How such a great sport can be administered by such buffoons is one of lifes mysteries.
I know why don't we have a franchise framework to decide who should be relegated based on nothing to do with success on the pitch.
Oh wait a minute!

I completely get your point but it doesn't eclipse how many times I prayed during Leeds' recent dalliances with the bottom 4....

Think the super league clubs and most of the chairmen have had enough of TW all ready
They should pounce on them straight away if they openly and knowingly break the salary cap to try and not get relegated ala Wigan
I presume there hoping with the knew tv deal coming up it may go back to no relegation and they may have to pay a big fine but will stay in SL

Yes, they have.

As it's a live cap they can advise clubs that they are going to breach it and refuse to register players until appropriate space is cleared.

It's why a lot of clubs have to have a domino effect of a player going before a new one comes in.

Maybe they can only squeeze one month's salary into their Salary Cap spare change?

Policing the salary cap has always been a moot point.
That's what happens when the baboons or buffoons run the zoo.
Football though massively flawed does not shy as Ranger's, Manchester City and those with greater knowledge than l will reel off many more examples.
The cap has been ignored, exploited, misinterpreted and so on.
Wolf Pack may be of the opinion if we stay within the rules we face relegation so why not chance our arms over to you Red Hall

Gosh we made a good start here only 3 weeks in ..
A team either openly braking the cap or about to
A player who wouldn't get a game in any other sport brought in
Top ref suspended on what must be serious matters as he's just hired a top lawyer to represent him
