He was a very fast and nippy rugby player at school (where RU was the rugby....boo !!!)lurcher wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021, 14:41he only does that when he knows the camera's are on him fairly sure when he was still at school he used to operate the old score board on railway end.Railway end man 2021 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2021, 22:27He was in the year above me. Don't think he said owt regarding tatics just shared experiences on of his big accasions with CAS probably 86 hull and Sheffield probably while he had a bit of time off after his BBC commitments
he has the club at heart met him once said he still supports CAS and that it's is boyhood club think his dad was involved with the club to if he's not commentating on the day he will probably be in crowd somewhere tapping his fingers
He is Cas through and through .... his dad ran a Coal Delivery company and he lived only 2 or 3 streets away from Cas's rugby ground off Wheldon Lane !

Re: John kear and Matty crowther
I have his book at home so can answer some of the stuff about JK.
His dad was Herbert Kear, coal delivery man, who played a few games at full back for Cas 1st team
He did do the scoreboard with his older brother David.
He says the drumming is involuntary and generally happens when under stress.
He was coach of a school team in South Milford. (JK was deputy head. Athelstone I think the school is called)
He says that his dream job would be coach of Cas, and when he's no longer involved in rugby he'll be back at Cas as a ST holder.

It was Athelstan County Primary, as it was called then, at Sherburn In Elmet - he was my teacher/coach and the one who first took my best mate and me to a game. I have Mr Kear to thank for me being on the Cas rollercoaster!Spanishtiger wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021, 17:44 I have his book at home so can answer some of the stuff about JK.

You're obviously right derbys, how I managed to mix up South Milford and Sherburn is beyond me. Must be something to do with my age!!!derbystiger wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021, 19:36It was Athelstan County Primary, as it was called then, at Sherburn In Elmet - he was my teacher/coach and the one who first took my best mate and me to a game. It's been beautiful in Suffolk today. Not a cloud in the sky. Makes me think about retiring to warmer climes.Spanishtiger wrote: ↑09 Jun 2021, 20:53Nail on the head mateSuffolkTiger wrote: ↑09 Jun 2021, 18:17It’ll be the San Miguel, sunshine, outdoor living etc to blame.... where did it all go wrong eh?
