With saints having to sell 2-3 players let’s get Fages in.
This.
If we can get a substantial fee for Trueman and sign Fages, we have a better player and money to invest elsewhere in the team.

He's only 26 and by the end of this season he'll be past the 200-game mark. Just coming into his prime as a half-back, really.

I'll be shocked if Saints allow him to leave, but their success is also their challenge. They are already spending the full salary cap and everyone in their squad will believe their form should mean an improved contract when they come up for renewal. On that basis, they just can't keep everyone.
However, if he doesn't re-sign for Saints then I suspect the likes of Warrington (who might lose Austin and Widdop - Powell tried to sign Fages to replace Gale before he signed his current deal with Saints so obviously rates him) and Wigan (who are now losing Hastings at the end of the year) will be interested too.

Does it really matter.???

Cas will be here next year and when I'm long gone.

Players come, players go.

I'd like him to stay.

If not, let's move on.

He could stay and become a legend.

More probably chase the money.!!!!!

Hope I'm wrong.

You’re right. But as the only recognise half he should be cut a bit of slack.

He’s still young and developing - as the only recognised half out there he’s not yet experienced enough to control things on his own. It’ll come though.

I think this would be the frustration.
We’ve given Trueman the opportunity that most top teams wouldn’t. We’ve accepted that it takes time for a half-back to develop and given him that consistent place in the team, even when he’s been poor.
He might become an international half-back, but he isn’t one yet. He’s got the talent, but as yet he hasn’t got the consistency or the mentality to step up and be the best player on the field when a game is tight.
We saw the difference between good players and elite players last night. In a tight game, Hasting, Hardaker and French all did something most players can’t do that made a demonstrable difference to the outcome of the game. McShane is the only player we have with that ability and he can’t be expected to do it every game.
Aside from McShane, we have good players, not elite players. We’re good enough to beat most teams and compete with everyone. But I’m not sure we are good enough to beat the best teams when it matters,

I'm still hopeful tho if we get Richardson fit to play with Trueman Evalds and Macca in the spine we can win something this year unless injuries blight us again that is

I think it’s possible.
But those players (bar McShane) need to go up a level if it’s going to happen, especially Trueman and Richardson.
At the moment, we aren’t good enough to crack the best defences enough times to win a game (especially a big game when defences tend to go up a level too).
Sure we’ll win plenty and we’ll compete with the best. But when it comes to coming out on the right side of a tight game against the likes of Wigan or Saints, those players need to step up and be better than they have been so far.
Wigan know that if they keep putting the ball into the hands of Hardaker, French and Hastings then something will happen. Same at Saints - give the ball to Coote, Fages, Lomax and Roby enough times and they’ll do something to break a defence. Even at Warrington - Clarke, Ratchford and Austin are potential game-breakers. At Cas, we only have McShane who can produce a high-quality play to break a game.

Wigan have three x-factor players St Helens are like a machine just ground teams down I'd be surprised if they don't win the two trophys between them but I give us a chance if we have near enough are full team out ...and a bit of luck

I think you underestimate Coote, Lomax and Fages.
