but we have an history of taking money for a player then only spending half or less of it.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑16 Apr 2021, 11:04If a club has offered £260k for a player who is only contracted until the end of 2022, we have got a very good deal.takethetwo wrote: ↑16 Apr 2021, 09:37No idea mate. We turned down 260k so it's at least that much. And okay Lurcher lol, Trueman will be wearing primrose and blue for 2022.
He's good, but he's no Rangi Chase.
That's not to say I want him to leave, but it's sport and players come and go. It would be a shame for him to leave after we have given him the opportunity to establish himself as a SL player, but if we get lots of money for him (and that is reinvested in the playing squad) then we might actually be a better team. We could use that cash to tempt Theo Fages, for example.

I agree.takethetwo wrote: ↑16 Apr 2021, 11:34 At the time OCL he may will have been right. Just like the announcement of us turning the offer down was factually correct. (at the time). I know were not a selling club anymore but if the money suits all parties then could be a good move all round .
I’d be telling Warrington 300k or no less than 275k and he’s yours.
We have to be firm on this.
Trueman is contracted for next year, so if Warrington want him so much, dig in and demand 300k

Will the money go back into the playing staff....doubt it very much.
Some might but a lot won’t.
Re: Trueman going nowhere! ...
That's the key point in this transition once Powell as gone will the squad be improved like it needs to be and will the full salary cap still be spent for instance a top back rower be brought in to replace MM a top centre be brought in to replace Shenton if this happens the new coaching team will have every chance for mineTamworth Tiger wrote: ↑16 Apr 2021, 11:01 No idea if you’re right or wrong. If Trueman wants out and we get a good chunk of cash for him I can live with it provided it goes Ito strengthening the squad, we keep the rest of the spine in place and the new coach can take us forward.

Look what happened with Gale reportedly went for £150,000 and we spent £70,000 on Richardson who is probably only on half the money Gale was on.
To attract a top half will cost big style , probably from Oz so unless we get a ridiculous offer for him I'd be keeping Truey and hope the new coach can persuade him to sign a longer deal.

My fears are based on the history of the club and how we always seem to be in a cycle of "boom or bust".
Am I not allowed and opinion and why have you asked me to back my opinions up and not all the others?
never mind sonny, you had your two minutes fame

Heard from a good source trueman going to Australia end of season and mata’utia to wire
Re: Trueman going nowhere! ...
If this is true, probably not, I wouldn't begrudge Trueman a shot down under. He's more chance of bettering himself in aus than he ever has over at dire.
what doesn't kill me simply makes me...stranger.

Re: Trueman going nowhere! ...
The important thing is if there is any move to Australia, Is we have a clause in his contract for first refusal when he comes back.
Personally I’d say it’s a year or two too soon for that move
Ultimately plenty of players head from us to bigger clubs for better chances of international appearances and NRL gigs, Right now however I don’t see how Warrington would offer more than we do.

Agree if thats the plan he's best waiting two or three years going when he's in his primedettoriman wrote: ↑18 Apr 2021, 05:47 The important thing is if there is any move to Australia, Is we have a clause in his contract for first refusal when he comes back.

If we're going to lose JT, then it may aswell to the highest bidder. Let them and Warrington get in to a bidding war if they want him that much. I would much prefer to lose him to Warrington than Wigan mind.
Re: Trueman going nowhere! ...
Fantastic news so that’s Wigan Wire and the NRL should be looking at 500k easy.
With saints having to sell 2-3 players let’s get Fages in.

I thought he’d already signed for Warrington.
