[Confirmed] Joe westerman
Re: Joe westerman
If true, it would be surprising that we are already looking to sign a player for 2022 when we don't know who the coach will be yet and whoever takes over might not want Westerman.
Unless of course, the club does know who is taking from DP and he is already working to assemble his squad???

Already said it in my post ](*,)westerbeast73 wrote: ↑25 Mar 2021, 22:48No one knows what we need in 2022 until we find out who's being released. If it's true we are doing a deal with him for 2022 the new coach must be working in the background already.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑25 Mar 2021, 22:21 Not convinced he’s what we need, though I do think he’d suit our style.
Re: Joe westerman
Should fit in well with the other Wakey players you signed, Tupou, Johnstone, Fifita, Jowett and Tanginoa to name but a few.

Same source said James Ford as the coaching position but we will see

Tom and Greg on each wing would be special

Re: Joe westerman
Too old and gone backwards as a player...
Re: Joe westerman
I'd be happy with that still plays to a decent standard of the game
The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have

Re: Joe westerman
Played very well for Wakey last year. I'd be happy enough with this if the money is right.

Re: Joe westerman
He's definitely on the wrong side of 30's, but to say he's finished is harsh. Him and Tanginoa were by far Wakey's best last season. The last of the proper traditional ball playing 13's in the league.

I'd take Westerman before JSL and Milner all day long.

Re: Joe westerman
My only doubt is where it leaves O'Neill (assuming he stays beyond 2021).
I know Westerman could play in the back row, but his best position is at 13 in my opinion, and that's the position Jacques should be looking to sure up.
However, Westerman is the same age as JSL. I'd rather take Westerman than re-sign JSL, based on performances over the last two or three seasons.

If Westerman signs I think it will be to replace Millington. Hes big enough to be a ball playing prop nowadays rather than a 13. Oniel is a hooker by trade also.

Re: Joe westerman
He might be big enough - whether he's got the attitude and other physical attributes to play in the middle I'm not too sure.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑26 Mar 2021, 15:01 If Westerman signs I think it will be to replace Millington. On O'Neill, I've not seen enough of him at 9 to say he's an out-and-out hooker. Certainly got the attributes, but in the modern game he might be a better 13 and that's where he's played most of his first-grade rugby so far.

Did you watch Westerman play at all last season? Or are you just going on what he was like at Cas.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑26 Mar 2021, 15:11He might be big enough - whether he's got the attitude and other physical attributes to play in the middle I'm not too sure.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑26 Mar 2021, 15:01 If Westerman signs I think it will be to replace Millington. Re: Joe westerman
Have to say that on what I saw of him I thought he showed enough to suggest he could do a good job for us up front
