Matty English
Matty English is being chased by St. Helens, has had a couple of visits by them, but he is reluctant to go live over there. Castleford as we know are short of a prop. 22 years old and 2 seasons playing in Super League, I myself would go for him, and with him living in Stanley, just on his doorstep. Someone for the long term.

Re: Matty English
Would be a fantastic signing.
However, he’s got a long-term contract at Huddersfield.
Saints have the money from Thompson’s transfer fee to tempt Huddersfield into selling him, though.

This would be a good signing. Also a typical DP signing of a younger player he can mould.fast hands wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 21:07 Matty English is being chased by St. Helens, has had a couple of visits by them, but he is reluctant to go live over there. English is not on a massive wage with the Giants, £30,000 next season, expecting Giants to let him leave and put money into the club with sale.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 21:29 Would be a fantastic signing.

I suspect we won’t be able to match the fee that St Helens can pay, given the money they have received for Thompson.fast hands wrote: ↑03 Jul 2020, 21:15English is not on a massive wage with the Giants, £30,000 next season, expecting Giants to let him leave and put money into the club with sale.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 21:29 Would be a fantastic signing.

Strictly speaking I anticipate we’ve only spent half of gales fee we receivednottinghamtiger wrote: ↑03 Jul 2020, 21:51I suspect we won’t be able to match the fee that St Helens can pay, given the money they have received for Thompson.fast hands wrote: ↑03 Jul 2020, 21:15English is not on a massive wage with the Giants, £30,000 next season, expecting Giants to let him leave and put money into the club with sale.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 21:29 Would be a fantastic signing.

Very true. I won’t be complaining if we spend it on English. Looks like a future international to me.Mysterio wrote: ↑03 Jul 2020, 22:32Strictly speaking I anticipate we’ve only spent half of gales fee we receivednottinghamtiger wrote: ↑03 Jul 2020, 21:51I suspect we won’t be able to match the fee that St Helens can pay, given the money they have received for Thompson.fast hands wrote: ↑03 Jul 2020, 21:15English is not on a massive wage with the Giants, £30,000 next season, expecting Giants to let him leave and put money into the club with sale.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 21:29 Would be a fantastic signing.

Can I ask how you know this? If that is true, given what I’ve seen of the lad, is offer him a significant increase to join us.fast hands wrote: ↑03 Jul 2020, 21:15English is not on a massive wage with the Giants, £30,000 next season, nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 21:29 Would be a fantastic signing.

What does concern me is why Huddersfield are willing to let a player with such potential leave.
Re: Matty English
They have a millionaire owner, but, the club are massively in debt to him, so, I'm guessing he wants to reign in their spending and cut costs.Fumper27 wrote: ↑04 Jul 2020, 06:04Can I ask how you know this? He’s got the potential to be the best in super league, can’t see it happening though imo!
Re: Matty English
If they’re looking to reign in their spending, I’d also take Jake Wardle and Tom Holmes from them....bane73 wrote: ↑04 Jul 2020, 09:20They have a millionaire owner, but, the club are massively in debt to him, so, I'm guessing he wants to reign in their spending and cut costs.Fumper27 wrote: ↑04 Jul 2020, 06:04Can I ask how you know this? He started on £15,000 when he first signed pro forms, rose to £22,000 this season which will rise to £30,000 for new season. Clubs are very cautious to young players, and rightfully.
I am sure of his wage, he wouldn't tell a family member a lie. His Mum and Dad would love him to go to the Black and Whites as the family are Hull born and bred, but moved to Stanley/Outwood a few years back. Nearly telling his life story.

Not doubting you fasthands but RL players must be part of a unique breed of people, who happily share with others what they’re earning....I know the only people who know what I earn are my missus and the taxman!!!fast hands wrote: ↑04 Jul 2020, 17:42Fumper,Fumper27 wrote: ↑04 Jul 2020, 06:04Can I ask how you know this? Re: Matty English
Surprising how Agents put words into players mouth's. Don't be surprised if he moves shortly, if not to Saints, other clubs are interested.
Re: Matty English
I think it’s a dangerous game for agents to be playing in the current climate. If I was a player I’d want a contract for the next year or two that guarantees a wage, rather than chasing the big deal.
