I'm beginning to think it's because he's different to most of the back rowers in the squad,in that he's tall and has some weight about him (which he doesn't use). Holmes,Hepi,Foster,Milner are much the same. Powell must think he'll spark into life but he's getting worse.tigerfeat wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 16:53Why as Powell kept picking him then week after week ?nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 16:35But what’s his excuse for the last two and a half years? You can count the number of good games he’s had since 2017 on one hand.True-supporter wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 16:08 For me this is the problem with players moving to new clubs. If you have signed for a new club you will mak sure you keep fit for your new contract and not for your old club.

Re: McMeekan
Hes never been interested in doing the stuff stuff in close games. Hes deffo not worth a 100k wage like some are saying he earns on here.
Re: McMeekan
Was upgraded after his 2017 season where he was up there with the best back rows in sl, sadly couldn't build on it n has sat back and took his wage.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 18:30If true whoever at the club agreed to pay him that much needs their head testing.heritage1926 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 09:43He's on 6 figures.Mysterio wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 09:21I hope we’re not taking more than 75k currently,heritage1926 wrote: ↑09 Aug 2020, 16:02 Wish we could have gotten a fee for him, but his wages alone will accommodate at least 2 new players. His agent did very well when he negotiated that new contract and pay rise.

I thought he was centrally funded partly by the RFL / super league? Not sure how much though or has that come to an end?jackknife wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 20:17Was upgraded after his 2017 season where he was up there with the best back rows in sl, sadly couldn't build on it n has sat back and took his wage.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 18:30If true whoever at the club agreed to pay him that much needs their head testing.heritage1926 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 09:43He's on 6 figures.Mysterio wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 09:21I hope we’re not taking more than 75k currently,heritage1926 wrote: ↑09 Aug 2020, 16:02 Wish we could have gotten a fee for him, but his wages alone will accommodate at least 2 new players. correct jack and lets not forget how we were all urging cas to break the bank to keep him. i think we were all so high after that unbelievable 2017 we were all a bit blinded.jackknife wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 20:17Was upgraded after his 2017 season where he was up there with the best back rows in sl, sadly couldn't build on it n has sat back and took his wage.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 18:30If true whoever at the club agreed to pay him that much needs their head testing.heritage1926 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 09:43He's on 6 figures.Mysterio wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 09:21I hope we’re not taking more than 75k currently,heritage1926 wrote: ↑09 Aug 2020, 16:02 Wish we could have gotten a fee for him, but his wages alone will accommodate at least 2 new players. Wonder if he will kick on and become unstoppable like he was up to 2018 when he was in Wayne Bennett's England squad at the Dragons or if he will still be a ...princess

Re: McMeekan
Interesting that the guy who a lot of people now call ‘Princess’ has made the team of the week on the Sky Sports app along with Richardson and McShane
Re: McMeekan
I would have dropped him for the way he's played since the re-start but he's a good player and played well I thought on Thursday so fair play to him

Yes but the team of the week is based on stats alone - apparently he ran for 150 odd meters - which 40 would have been for the "un-touched try"
I think we would all agree that the defending sides were not on top that game and so making 100 meters in carries would not have been out of the norm.
35 odd tackles is good going but then when yo compare that to 59 Ollie Holmes made St Helen's - again does not stand out.
Not a vintage round of rugby league last week

Most of McMeekans meters are sideways!! he is the top sideways metre maker in Super League!!St Albans tiger wrote: ↑08 Sep 2020, 10:29 Yes but the team of the week is based on stats alone - apparently he ran for 150 odd meters - which 40 would have been for the "un-touched try"

I actually thought he had his best game since lockdown apart from a few penalties at least you knew he was on the pitch

3 penalties last night so 50% of penalties conceded in one match if your figure of 6 is right.

Re: McMeekan
This scapegoating of McMeeken is distasteful. People are leaping on a Toxic bandwagon.
I agree hes not playing to his potential, but hes outplayed our other second rower in the last two games.
The pack did its job last night and found great field position and also ensured our points conceded in the 80 was where you need it to be.
The major problem has been all season with our attack. Blunt, predictable and slow. We could do with a couple of Aussies with pace and size, any ideas anyone...

Re: McMeekan
I'm now convinced the Meeks bagging is purely based on the fact he's (apparently) leaving and nothing to do with how well he's playing.

Not by me, I'm glad hes going to be honest. Goes missing too much and for his size should be breaking tackles. Cant remember the last time he broke a tackle against another teams forwards. Last night he gave away some stupid penalties aswell.
