Nowt wrong with Clare, obviously lost a yard of pace since his leg injury when playing leigh but doesnt let us down, proved a reliable player and probably our best back last season

Eden is rocks or diamonds,no in-between
Tbh i think we'd lose a lot not playing Eden and I know someone will say yeah 40 yard passes across the line
As a player Eden is someone who I have a lot of time for ...but Powell usually gets it right so have to wait see who gets the shirt

Eden gets stick for that pass but if you looked at it if the fullback was ready he was through a massive gap. I dont get why we have so many wingers in the squad

So getting back to the subject, we obviously don’t have anyone who can fill in at half back if (God forbid) Trueman or Richardson get injured. This is yet another example of us going into a season with a gaping weakness in our squad and the club going into denial.
Surely with our coaching staff and their background we can unearth a gem from the lower leagues, such as the kid who played for the Bulls ( Milnes???)

We have:

Turner
Peanut
McShane
Rankin

Who have all played there. I think we will be ok.

Peanut shouldn't go anywhere near fullback or half back again, if rankin plays there we weaken the fullback, if mcshane plays there then were not as strong at hooker and turner isnt a halfback. We should at least have a player in reserve team or younger team that could step in rather than weaken the team to cover it, that doesnt make sense to me

All stop gaps; the worry as to be what if either Trueman or Richardson pick up an injury that’s going to keep them out for a number of weeks or even worse.

Least it's better than going into a season without the right starting full-back or right starting centre I suppose ....

I reckon Eden will play fb in reserves
Should Trueman or Richardson get Injured / dropped, rankin plays half and Eden is an option to come in at fb.

Not sure I’ve seen Eden play well at fb but I know that’s always been his preferred position. Maybe a regular spell there in reserves will help his development and he could make that his position in 2021 when rankin deal expires. This could be his last chance with Cas I think.

This scenario is another case of weakening the team by moving more than one player which would severely disrupt our plays and defensive systems when we know how important our full back position / linking is.
IMO it should be that we bring in the back up half back from the reserves (if we had one) and leave our first choice full back where he is because the systems being played in the reserves should mirror those of our first team, so the back up half back could fit in more easily.
It really does show a lack of professionalism and planning that we choose to name a player who (as far as I am aware) has never been a half back as our back up, or disrupt the team by changing people round in crucial positions rather than look to develop a kid with potential into a specialist position.

If Eden starts in the second team it will only be a matter of time before some team comes in for him and we accept cash or a player swop I would have thought

Eden is also the only genuine speedster we have, so to play him at full back in the reserves is plain daft.
Give him the left wing berth outside Shenton to start with, with the knowledge that we now have realistic other options should he screw up his opportunity.
