Gigot turned down a marquee contract at Catalans, so I doubt he’d be on our radar.

Re: Half back
I’d take him back in a heartbeat.Andrew6666 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2019, 17:43 Tom Holmes could have been a good shout to bring back. Still young.
But he left for first team rugby as he was behind Gale and Roberts.
If he returned, he’d be behind Trueman and Richardson.
I don’t see why he’d leave Huddersfield, where he has a better chance to play regularly.
Re: Half back
Breaking news 'Tom Holmes comes back to Cas'! sorry not down t'lane but coaching 2mins from cas ground. Coaching Lock Lane next season. You never know, there's always a chance, he'll come if we shout across the river!
Re: Half back
I saw a headline saying Holmes returns home but unfortunately it was valentine and not tomAndrew6666 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2019, 17:43 Tom Holmes could have been a good shout to bring back. Still young.

Re: Half back
Been told today that Tom has signed. No idea if it's true or not, just relaying information.
Re: Half back
Happy enough if true decent 3rd choice
Re: Half back
Hope it's true mate just the kind of player we need at this momenttakethetwo wrote: ↑11 Dec 2019, 18:35 Been told today that Tom has signed. No idea if it's true or not, just relaying information.

Re: Half back
Tom Holmes would be a very astute signing.
However, he left for first team rugby as he was third choice. Unless he fancies his chances of out-performing Richardson, he’ll return as third choice.
He’s got a far better chance of playing regularly at Huddersfield.
But if he’s willing to return and start 2020 behind Trueman and Richardson, with a determination to fight his way into the team, then he’d be a good addition to the squad.

Re: Half back
Huddersfield have got sezer and gaskell as their halves so I cant see him playing first team there without injuries. They also have a young lad as backup in Oliver Russell. Good player too. Would take either as our back up even if it was on loan for season

Re: Half back
I would be very happy with the signing but like I said I've no idea if true. Lad who told me is pretty close to Liam Watts and Jesse though so I'm hoping that he's spot on.

Re: Half back
Having read a lot on this topic for the last month or two, initially I didn't really have strong thoughts either way.
I really would have preferred to have retained Jamie.
Obviously Powell has other plans.
Recent posts of has beens and never weres have caused me concern.
Smith, Brierley and Lilley would in my opinion have been a step backwards.
Tom Holmes is one of the few suggestions/ rumours that I could see being progressive.
There aren't many options who are British, potentially available, have the capacity to improve and would fit into our salary cap.
If there are others, put them in a post.

Re: Half back
Tom knows the club, our style of play, is still young, and knows most of the staff (if not all). No brainer for a third half back for me. Could still be moulded into what DP wants.stevieblunder wrote: ↑13 Dec 2019, 23:46 Having read a lot on this topic for the last month or two, initially I didn't really have strong thoughts either way.

Re: Half back
Matty Smith anyone, IF the deal is very much on a par with whatever Holmes / Lilley / Brierley would receive. Holmes then the year after (or both now)
Audacter Et Sincere
Re: Half back
Matty Smith is, and has always been the most overrated player in SL, hence why hes been at so many clubs. Hes not even an average Championship half back, and hardly has time on his side. I'm hoping weve learned from our mistakes over the last couple of seasons, when it comes to wasting cap space, purely for the sake of it.
