Razza would be a good addition to our team, hes a good hooker, knows ins and outs of it and at minute is one of top english hookers in the game.
Obviously id have him back anyday but we cant rely on Hendo too much, anyway i thought he was going to NL1 as he said he couldnt cope with SL anymore? because of is age or something?

I would definitely be pleased to have Hudson back. He offers a lot more from acting half than both Henderson and Moore. With Moore reportedly going to the Glapharm I reckon it's a decent result. Fair play to Henderson; he has been an awesome servant to the club but as for those who say he was better than Hudson today I can't understand what youmwere watching. Did you see Hendo's attempted tackle on Cudjoe which finally let them break away and put us out of our misery?

Hendo as been great servant and crowd favourite but times goes by and so does is speed and fitness, today he was out on is feet and could of done with someone to interchange with.
Hudson wil bring a lot to the club unlike Moore and sadly Hendo.
I hope that the next club he goes to will warm to him like we have.

Hudson has the edge, but what everyone is overlooking is that Hendo is on peanuts and Hudson has been given a 4 year, 100k a year contract, which must be one of the worst deals in our entire history. He's 29 in November, so it takes him to 33 and he's on a sum that's 50% more than he's ever been on before. He was on about 60k at the Giants.
Incidentally it's made us the laughing stock of the RL world and only the other week I was talking to the father of a well known international and he told me all the players at his club are tongue in cheek, taking the [REMOVED] out of us, saying they all want to play with us as we're giving stupid contracts out, which we are with more than Hudson, but his is one of the worse.
Let me say now that I've no problem with us resigning him for a reasonable fee, as he brings endeavour, determination and effort, but the modern hooker needs attributes like sharpness, speed, creativity and inciseveness, which he either doesn't have or possesses in very small quantities. Phil Clarke said the other week, when Hudson plays, Huddersfield have nothing to offer from acting half, apart from honest endeavour, graft and determination. And for that we're paying 100k over 4 years. He's a back up, rotating hooker not a first choice starting one.
Put it into context, he'll be on about 20k more than James Roby is at Saints, and he's different class. Even Robbo has distanced himself from this deal, describing it as shocking, and he's dead right.
It's just another example of our BOD's lack of footballing knowledge, and their complete lack of insight and idea of a players valuation. If anybody thinks he's worth a 4 year 100k deal, then quite frankly they need to get their heads out of the sands.

So I said to the Taxi driver, "King Edwards Close". He replied "It's alright we'll lose him at the next set of lights".

I think Raz will be an asset, but have to question if he's worth 100k, if indeed that is what he's been offered. Comments from Giants fans seem to suggest he was touch and go being fit for yesterday and only played because they had a few injuries, supposed to only be 80% fit.
Took his try well, but should have been stopped, we defended very well up to that point and that was a real sucker punch.

That's definitely what he's been offered Phil, give or take a couple of thousand or two. The last year of the 4 is apparently 80k plus 1 grand a match. I'm sorry but he's a 55k to 60k player, and 4 years is a joke. As I say, it puts into context when Roby is on only 80k.Danny Boy wrote:I think Raz will be an asset, but have to question if he's worth 100k, if indeed that is what he's been offered. The modern hookers role demands that you have a thoroughbred as your first choice there now, not a dray horse and that's what he is, a grafter and labourer, not an incisive creator or gamebreaker. Due to some of the daft deals we've done we've apparently not got a great deal left on our playing budget for next season.

Agree with the money side of things Stu, but think he could be described as a bit more than a dray horse, he's definitely better than what we've got and I would agree with the £60k tag, so got to be disappointed with what we're paying him, especially if as you say our salary cap spend is almost spent.Bengal wrote:That's definitely what he's been offered Phil, give or take a couple of thousand or two. Think we may free up some cap space soon though, as I can't see Korky being with us for very much longer if TM is still the coach.

Hooray!!!!!harrogate tiger wrote:After watching today's how can we serious think signing Ryan Hudson. Hendo is a far better player in my opinion, also if the rumours on this board are correct about Luke dorn going, where are we going to get a more explosive, lethal and deadly finisher from, the Cas board must be blinkered.
Come on Cas!!!!!
Our salary cap space is far from almost spent, because we're on the full amount like everyone else. I was talking about our own budget, or what we can afford to spend, which apparently is 1.3 million. I don't know about almost spent, but we've not too much left, about 100k I heard, plus what we'd have for offloading the likes of Korky. The question is though who's going to take him off our hands for the money he's on?Danny Boy wrote:Agree with the money side of things Stu, but think he could be described as a bit more than a dray horse, he's definitely better than what we've got and I would agree with the £60k tag, so got to be disappointed with what we're paying him, especially if as you say our salary cap spend is almost spent.Bengal wrote:That's definitely what he's been offered Phil, give or take a couple of thousand or two. Dray horse may not have been a great description and don't misunderstand me I certainly wouldn't complain if he were to return for the right deal. But at that price you could get 2 players for the price of 1, or one class act. But he's certainly no thoroughbred. The fact is you look at all the top teams now and they have someone in the 9 position who can play and create.
Hudson to me would be more a player who could fit into or cover 2 or 3 positions, and offer you some hard graft, commitment and endeavour.

As stu says its another case of bad management at the top of our club and if you ask the people who have made the deal tehy will give you the same answers as to why ryan mcgoldrick has signed a similar deal
Ryan Hudson for me is a 70k player and the fact he will be 29 would mean you would say he should get a 2 year deal - Obviously to get him to make the switch we should be offering 80k - Thats not bad business IMO and its far smarter than the 4 year 100k deal
As for comparing him to hendo, Ryan Hudson is streets better - yesterday he probably wasnt at his vintage best and yet he still scored 1 try and could have had 2 more and also ran the show from dummy half for huddersfield - Hendo is a grafter- Nothing more and never will be - If it wasnt for his ban i am sure hudson would have some rep honours to his name by now and then nobody would be questioning him
I think its a good signing for the club - But not on the money or length of contract we have had to offer - The same applies to mcgoldrick

So judging from that, Ryan Hudson has scored more tries(2-1), Set more up (9-0), Made loads more meters(1650-1079), Taken more carries(284-172), More offloads(29-1), More attacking kicks (11-1), More runs from dummy half (232- 154), More tackle busts (21-13), Clean breaks (5-0), Kicks in general play (22-1), Missed Tackles (26-31 - So he has missed less although not by much)
So what this tells me is we have a hooker who makes a lot of yards and can offer us other dimensions to his game, Making tries and putting in kicks when needed
Hendo would beat hudson on Tackles made (486-434), Marker tackles (48-35), Errors (5-12 Made less errors), Penalties (10-15 conceded less), And yellow cards (0-1)
so from that you see a player who tackles his balls off, does his job well and rarely makes an error - 5 errors in appearences is a fair effort - but he just lacks the spark thats needed to create something

Just out of interest - See how Ryan Hudson compares to other top hookers in the league - Keiron Cunningham - Very closely matched imo http://www.superleague.co.uk/statistics ... eason=2008
James Roby - Whose stats show why he is the best 9 in the country by a mile
http://www.superleague.co.uk/statistics ... eason=2008
Matt Diskin - Close one to call
http://www.superleague.co.uk/statistics ... eason=2008
Terry Newton - Apart from tries Hudson beats him on almost everything
