Re: Olpherts
I concur with this as Faraimo/Eden are good enough and better than Olpherts however Feki remains an unknown quantity as to whether he will ever start and what he's going to be like after such a long layoff !! Mind you Clare might be pushing for a regular spot !!............ NOT !!.LeagueLeaders wrote: ↑12 Sep 2021, 15:04 I actually missed the game so can't comment on his performance yesterday but in general I really don't rate Olpherts in all honesty. Not the worst player and certainly not bad for depth but I do hope that next year he'll rarely be in the team with Feki hopefully being back, Faraimo coming in and Eden potentially being kept

I wonder why with the super League coaches on here. One loss and we are bagging certain players.Tamworth Tiger wrote: ↑12 Sep 2021, 11:21 I think Qareqare would have taken a couple of those passes that Clare got last night and gone for the line with self belief. Sadly Clare has lost his IMO
No one to every high ball, evalds included. None made every tackle, no one made the right decision every time.
Tbh, we are in a shot for the top 6, who'd have thought that without a regular half back partnership and covid.

Re: Olpherts
Whatever your thoughts are on our wingers there's one guy I would've loved to have in my team and he couldn't tackle a Sunday lunch - Martin Offiah.

Re: Olpherts
The difference for the matches we had Eden and Turner as the centre winger partnership was noticeable sadly that didn't last long enoughFIat Capper wrote: ↑13 Sep 2021, 11:36 Whatever your thoughts are on our wingers there's one guy I would've loved to have in my team and he couldn't tackle a Sunday lunch - Martin Offiah.

The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have

Couldn't tackle s hot dinner or pass. But give him the ball and he'll score.FIat Capper wrote: ↑13 Sep 2021, 11:36 Whatever your thoughts are on our wingers there's one guy I would've loved to have in my team and he couldn't tackle a Sunday lunch - Martin Offiah.

It's rare to get a winger with everything. Makinson is probably the closest in our game. But then he grabs your junk every now and again.
Re: Olpherts
Offiah and Makinson no doubt outstanding players and we're and are superb finishers but look at who they have or had playing inside them, and covering for them defensively, they would always have scored tries, but not so many if they'd been relying on Turner,Richardson and Shenton for service. Mamo coming in is for me a plus but we need a decent half back.

Re: Olpherts
I'm no Statto but I'm of the opinion the Turner/Eden partnership has been our best wing pairing this year. Their prolific spell also coincided with Danny R playing well and they may well have worked well as a collective because of how they complimented each other. Every piece of that jigsaw is required to complete the picture.
Re: Olpherts
Not saying he is to blame for the defeat just like I didn’t like week, but I think his performance today just proves the point I was making last week. Another awful performance from Olpherts

True
Re: Olpherts
Garbage player.
Re: Olpherts
It was that bad it became amusing…particularly when he got a great pass for Pete, had an open line 5 yard out and managed to get tackled 12 yard out.
Re: Olpherts
His yardage out on backs plays no way out weighs his lack of ability to catch or pace to outpace an opposition player started ok but has been on a very downward curve! Greg Eden over him any day.
Re: Olpherts
Maybe marginally better as a back up player than Clare. As a starting Super League player? Not as long as he’s got a hole in his backside.
Re: Olpherts
That was awesome by Pete as well! That was confusing why he did that, me and my mates was so sure he was about to go in but decided to not run in the massive gap for a try and just ran it sideways!
Re: Olpherts
the lad is a strong runner not fast enough for the wing, i think he would go well in the second row is it worth a shot ?
Re: Olpherts
His attacking game could suggest he could, but he can’t defend, the lad doesn’t know how to tackle and you obviously have to do more tackling in the second row.

Re: Olpherts
He certainly seems to have lost his confidence. Does a couple of balls that would have been tries. Did a lot of hard carries but no threat.
Taking a harsh look at tonites team, there's a lot carrying injuries and out of form. It's clear why Radford has cut the squad, apart from Jesse he's right. Matagi with the odd good hard run isn't enough.
