Faraimo confirmed

Post by heritage1926 » 05 Aug 2021, 19:02

Castleford Tigers are delighted to confirm that Bureta Faraimo has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at The Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

The pacey winger began his career in the NRL with Parramatta Eels, a short spell at the New Zealand Warriors followed before he made the switch to Super League. Hull FC was the USA international’s destination, and he has an impressive record of 40 tries in 80 matches during his three-year spell with the Black and Whites.

Speaking to castlefordtigers.com about joining the club, Faraimo explained that he is happy to be part of the new era at Castleford in 2022.

“I am really excited! I’m looking forward to working with Lee Radford again and we’ll hopefully win some silverware together.”

It was a big move for the winger to make from the Southern Hemisphere to the UK and the outside back thanked Hull FC for their support during his time with the club.

“I’ve had some good times with Hull FC over the last three years and I will be trying my best to get some silverware with them before I leave.”

Faraimo has ran out onto the field at The Mend-A-Hose Jungle on a number of occasions for The Airlie Birds, however, he is relishing the opportunity to have the raucous Wheldon Road support behind him as a Cas player.

“The crowd at Castleford is always good and they are right on top of you. Even as an opposition player it’s impressive and I can’t wait to be there with the crowd on my side the next two years.”

The 31-year-old has made a name for himself in Super League over the past few seasons as a powerful and robust winger who has a real eye for a finish when he gets close to the try line.

Although Faraimo explained that he is ready to play in any position for the team and reiterated just how much he is looking forward to donning Cas colours.

“I’ll play wherever I am needed and whatever is best for the team to be successful.

“I’m looking forward to playing well, enjoying my time at the club, and making some new friends.”

The Fords’ Head Coach for 2022, Lee Radford, coached the winger during his tenure at Hull FC and outlined just how thrilled he is to be working alongside him once again.

“He’s an incredibly tough bloke to tackle, nine times out of ten he will win the ground when he’s carrying the ball and gets your sets started like you want to start your sets.

“He gets you on the front foot, and not only that, I think something that gets a little overlooked is his work down the other side of the field, you give him a try scoring opportunity and he will take it.

“Off the field he is a fantastic bloke and someone I really enjoyed having a relationship with and I have stayed in touch with on a regular basis. When I heard that he was available, I jumped at the chance to get him signed for Cas.”

We seem to be waiting for incoming players to have a half decent game before we announce their signatures. Not sure if it was a signing we needed if Feki gets fit and offers nothing that Olpherts doesn't.

Happy with this.

Glad to see Radford using the quota slots on the 17/19 and not squad players

He's a few levels above Olpherts for me

You're right, but Olpherts has been better than anyone could have imagined when we signed him. I actually rate him and he's quality back up to have in the squad.

I like olpherts and he's my first choice right winger. Faraimo would be left depending on feki. Nice potentially have options.

How many wingers do we need? We now have 6 - Feki, Faraimo, Eden, Clare, Olpherts, Turner plus Quare-Quare as back up,

I wonder which 3 will be going? Olpherts & Clare definately, the other one?

It will be interesting, all bar Eden contracted.

Personally, in think by bringing in faraimo, feki will be going. Using 2 overseas places in wingers is a waste unless they are that good.

Turner isn’t really in the squad as a winger

I hear we might lose Qareqare to union on some scholarship. Don’t think we can compete with their package of education and funding. Faraimo the right sort of signing for me, we need players with some size and experience.

He has technically one more year of schooling, he'll be in upper sixth next month. No reason why he can't go to university whilst at Cas.

I suppose it's up to Cas to pay a contract he wants.

Clare has just extended his contra r so doubt he will be off.

Possibly Eden going.

Olpherts has been me of our better players. I would keep him.

Guess they will move Turner inside.

As for Feki who knows? I hope he recovers and gives us a season

Watched him live last night at Wakefield. Hope he improves a lot at Cas. Caught out of position defensively on a few occasions. Dropped a peach of a try scoring pass from Jake Conner. Only consolation is that Olpherts will be glad to see him down the lane as he will take some of the home crowd pressure off him.

Right? He doesn't seem to be talking much sense 😂
