League Table?

Post by A_can't_speak » 17 Apr 2021, 08:33

I know were are doing Win% again but why are we 4th when we have a better PD than Wigan and Hull have only played 2 games?

Its also works on average points difference
So for example if we had a PD of +60 thru 4 games (average 20)

But Hull have +50 thru 2 games (average 25)

They will be above us.

Don't worry too much though. I can't see any games getting called off now so it will work out fine end of the year

(Unless travel to France becomes an issue)

I’ve decided not to even look at the league table.
It’s a total farce, especially as the season could be a normal one with no teams having to postpone games due to Covid.
What other sport anywhere is doing this.

Not looked up the reasoning from Super League.
The maths is Points For divided by Points against multiplied by % wins.
It is part of the new GCSE syllabus.
Cannot wait to hear Barry Mc explain it.

According to Flash Scores Cas are second and Saints first which is the correct situation at the present time.

It is crazy and very complicated at moment - hopefully be easier after 8/10 games.
Various sites (BBC/SKY/RL) all had different versions at one point.

In the old days it was "we need to win by ... pts to go top etc"

So Catalans will have to win by 20pts divided by number of subs used minus knock ons to go above us from 5th to 4th!!

The table is ordered by win percentage first. So all the unbeaten sides are on 100%.

Then the differentiating factor isn't points difference, it is %of points difference.

(Points Scored / Points conceded ) x 100.

It's a stupid system but only looks so stupid because teams are unbeaten and played less. As teams start losing, the table will settled more than likely into a normal ordering.
In the spirit of the final Blackadder episode - Goooodbyeee!

I'm still waiting for teams to cancel games against the 'better' teams to avoid big losses of percentage value.
