Re: Next Coach....
Love how the cas fans are up in arms about Radford. 7 years as a head coach at Hull, 5 playoff places and 2 major trophies. That's more major trophies than cas have in the time I've been alive.

Re: Next Coach....
Both have openly said that they clash in terms of personality.
Radford wants his forwards (and backs) to be battering rams who never pass the ball. He thinks that fewer errors lead to more wins.
We'll get what he dished up at Hull - five drives and a kick to the corner.
I really hope I'm proven wrong, but under Radford I expect nothing but boring rugby and more losses than wins.

Now we can see why Watts hasn’t been at his best this season. If he knew about this then it all adds up.

I’d say that’s more fitness issues.Lofthouse Tiger wrote: ↑20 Apr 2021, 19:44 Now we can see why Watts hasn’t been at his best this season. If he knew about this then it all adds up.

I can't say I'm happy with this, but I'm willing to accept it. But if that's the case and we do end up playing that style of play, whilst winning nothing. Then I won't be buying a season ticket again.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑20 Apr 2021, 19:43Both have openly said that they clash in terms of personality.

Re: Next Coach....
I would hope Gratton and Fulton or whoever conducted the interview made it clear what kind of rugby the Cas supporters expect to see when we played a turgid brand of rugby in 2019 crowds dropped and people were saying Powell has took us as far as he can our attack that season looked like blokes who had met each other for the first time in the car park half an hour before kick offnottinghamtiger wrote: ↑20 Apr 2021, 19:43Both have openly said that they clash in terms of personality.

For all those worried about the Watts / Radford relationship, don't be. Heard they are good friends and Watts in fact fell out with Adam Pearson not Radford.

Play that way and only win half of the time (which would be an improvement on Radford’s track record at Hull with a more expensive squad), whilst getting hammered fairly regularly, then attendances will fall off a cliff.

Re: Next Coach....
Some posters on here seem to think we can attract the best coaches.
We can't.
Lack of facilities, no big money backer.
We over achieve with what we have.
We can only appoint from the people who apply.
Whoever we get its the best of the bunch.
In my opinion if its Radders, he's the best of a poor bunch.

Whether he is the best of the applicants is subjective though.stevieblunder wrote: ↑21 Apr 2021, 09:57 Some posters on here seem to think we can attract the best coaches.

My worry in all this is whether we have anyone at the club who is capable of identifying the best coach of a bunch. Who's selecting? Fulton? Gratton? (assuming Wells isnt involved).

Re: Next Coach....
Is it Radders?
When he played he only knew one way and nothing changed as a coach.
For all the years I've followed Cas I've know the good and (more often) the bad. For me it's about more than simply being successful although I'm happy to take that when it comes providing it's not at the cost of every other factor that keeps me smiling when I watch us play.
I think I'll ask my source what Radders is really like to work with...

Re: Next Coach....
I don’t think people are worried about his credentials more than his playing style. We’ve spent years developing a skill set which suits the players and makes the team gr8 to watch. How many of these players do we expect to retain, personally I expect it will be gutted and replaced with battering rams, but that’s my opinion

Have you got Powell’s win to lose ratio over the 7/8yrs.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑21 Apr 2021, 12:41I am.
Over six seasons (and a bit), Radford lost more than he won with a squad making use of the marquee player rule and top training facilities.
Be interesting to compare.

58% win record since he took over part-way through 2013.old cas lass wrote: ↑21 Apr 2021, 12:48Have you got Powell’s win to lose ratio over the 7/8yrs.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑21 Apr 2021, 12:41I am.

When comparing the two, it's worth remembering that Powell took over a squad (in-season) that looked destined for relegation, whereas Radford took over a team that had finished 6th the previous year and where he had been he assistant coach. As well as the obvious difference that Radford's teams used the marquee player rule.
It doesn't sound like much, but a 60% (ish) win record usually puts a team comfortably into the play-off places, whereas a team with a 50% (ish) win record usually doesn't make the play-offs.
