Bob Spurr.
The club have just put this on their twitter account.
Following the sad news that Castleford legend Bob Spurr has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, his son @spurry1980 is taking on a running challenge on Saturday, 6th March to support his dad.
I think there’s a just giving link for anyone who wishes to donate.
Great little player was Bob, watched him from the start of his cas career right to the end.
Wishing him all the best.

I will second that cracking player was Bob, Alzheimers is a terrible condition my thoughts are with Bob and his family
Re: Bob Spurr.
Always remember him coming off the field looking like he’d been dragged through a hedge, backwards!

He used to go on the field looking like he'd been dragged through a hedge backwards. I'd rather have 13 of those on the field at any onetime than not. Our thoughts are with Bob and his family.

Re: Bob Spurr.
Sad news.
Honest, very hard working player.
A real ' Club Man' in the best sense of the word.
He was often called ' Ten Yards Bob'.
Always made 10 yards from acting halfback.
Never failed.
I was in his class at primary school.
Never shone at rugby then.
I recollect he was a bit of a Mathematics wizzard.

Pretty sure he was at school with my big brother. Sadly he’s got Alzheimer’s too so can’t ask him.

100% every game. Always remember he had a headband type bandage around his head and looked knackered when he came off at the end. Great old fashioned hooker and a top player.
I remember he worked for Wakefield council and had a good job. FC may know more about this.

I seem to recall he worked in the fincance team but I never had the pleasure of working with him.Lofthouse Tiger wrote: ↑16 Feb 2021, 12:07 100% every game. I'm also fairly ignorant of the impact of head injuries on dementia type conditions but wonder if this has played a part.
Terribly sad news and the loss of ones mind is my greatest fear.
