Great news with hopefully a good ending. The lad has shown his commitment to the club and so has his mum. The club will hopefully reciprocate the commitment 😊🤞🐯 COYF

Did the club not know how good he was 5 months ago ?
Anyway let's hope he signs a longer deal before May 1 I think it is when other clubs are free to sign him up

i have watched the lad as he as come through our system he as always looked a good player but not as good as he looked when in the first team, more of our young players should be given the same chance maybe we have some more diamonds to uncover

Funny how it often works like this.
Some kids look like world-beaters in their age-group, but don’t go on to do anything.
Others don’t look that great, but seem to thrive and go up a level when they play first-team rugby.

We’ve seen so many young players touted as ‘the next big thing’, but in reality most turn out to be average at best.
O’Neill looks like he’ll be one of those who went under the radar at age-group level but turns into a very good player.

It's a bit like when kids are big for their age and then all of a sudden they are caught up and overtaken. Whatever talent a club scout thinks they have, they always seem to go for the big ones when talent is there whatever size they are. A long term deal is nothing less than young Jaques deserves 🤞🐯

your right there mate over at Normanton Knights it was always Bradford and Leeds that seemed to trawl through our young players signing all the lads with size glad that Oliver Holmes at that time did not fit the bill

Hopefully we can get the deal over the line before 1st May.
Don’t want other clubs sniffing and putting a spanner in the works.
Be nice to get it done before the season starts, then it’s off jaques mind, he then can concentrate on the 2021 season, which could be a big one for the lad.

I dont see what all fuss is about him, i see him as a 110% effort type player but dont see much skill wise just a younger version of Milner.

Looks like Cas now know what the TV deal is looking like and are now in a position to look at retentions from next season onwards.
As well as O'niel I hope we soon hear some positive news on Evalds.

he seemed to pick the lads up with his efforts just like Jesse did in his first season do not ever knock anyone that gives 100% thats all you can ask of a player

Ryan Clayton, Michael Wainwright and players like them used to always give 100%. The only thing with that is that they weren’t very good at SL level. I’d give 100% if playing for Cas, doesn’t make me good enough to do so.

I sometimes thought that Rangi Chase, in his pomp, didn’t always give 100% to the cause, but I’d much rather pay to watch 20% of Rangi Chase than 100% of the other players mentioned.

it is early days for young Jaques with the form he displayed in the few matches we saw him towards the back end of last season he could be amongst the contenders for young player of the year

Maybe Cas are announcing the extension of Jaques at 6pm as Adam Milner put on his twitter “Happy valentines everyone... Cas fans who’s ready for an announcement at 6pm tonight??”. Could also be something to do with his testimonial though.

I'm sure it will be better news if he does actually sign an extension. Until then, ,it's just news. Now where's them cones..?

Every team has players coming out of contract. It's priorities. We've got our spine tied up and a few important others. The rest will take time I guess.
