What's ,Serious about rugby league ' ?
The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have

Worth a go i suppose but he'd be way down the list of options even if he got a contract. An untried RU half in his mid-twenties seems surplus to requirements to me but so be it.
If we've money left in the pot i'd rather save it for a quality second row forward, or a grizzy prop with Griffin moving into the back row.

They’ve predicted Trinity 8th, Giants 9th and Cas 10th. Don’t think so some how.FIat Capper wrote: ↑12 Jan 2021, 16:43Following on from the uncertainty after Saints, I feel we could finish anywhere from bottom to 3rd. Bit of luck we may even push Saints off top spot but I'd be very pleasantly surprised if we did.heritage1926 wrote: ↑12 Jan 2021, 15:11It's to be expected to be fair. Usually 'journalists' predict the table on teams that have gone out and spent a boat load on new players. I think the only guarantee this year, is Saints finish in the top 2. Rest is to play for.

I'll go with the glass a good half full. We were the form team before the chinks ate summat wrong and I'd have liked to see how the season would have panned out without the lockdown, sssssss. We didn't cope with it well at all, but we get to go again soon I hope As for other teams spending like Viv Nicholson in her prime, only time will tell..

Re: Trialist
Depends on what rules we play by next season, before lockdown with scrums and a slower game we were going great but afterwards the game got too quick for us and Powell never got to grips with it and we were shocking.
With many sides looking to have recruited particularly well I think if Powell gets us in the top 6 he will have done a remarkable job.

Re: Trialist
One good signing, two moved out of huddersfield to be replaced by better players and a trail player. We should be looking to bring in another quality player.
Re: Trialist
I see it as every signing is pretty much an improvement on the players they’ve replaced, either skill-wise or their ability to play more than 3 games a season.
The lad on trial has not replaced anyone, I doubt he’ll be here beyond his initial month. Maybe he’s here to make the numbers up in 13v13 training?

Re: Trialist
Predicting the league is a funny one, I read the article and initially balked, but then again taking out my emotion, if you judge the season on 2019, 2020 pre-lockdown, it is daft.
If we pick up where we did after lockdown, might not be far off.
Welcome one and all to the rollercoaster - must be boring being a Saints fan when the only jeopardy is where in the top 3! I used to have this conversation with a Bulls fan friend back when they were always top - he admitted it was boring most weeks knowing they'd win!

Re: Trialist
With the lack of a millionaire backer, crowds of about 7 - 8 thousand, a small aging ground that limits income generation, a top 5 finnish is certainly over achieving.
I'd settle for that every year.

Good luck to the lad. There will be no questions about his fitness and determination. Hopefully he can create more competition for places.

Re: Trialist
It was announced on 12th January.
The one month presumably ends next week.
No news either way.
I thought the club would make a bit more about it, for the publicity, if nothing else.
