Adam Milner

Post by old cas lass » 13 Dec 2020, 22:48

He’s just posted this on social media.

Delighted to announce tonight that I have been granted a testimonial for the upcoming 2021 season by the RFL. From a young kid all I ever wanted to do was play rugby league, but never imagined that I would be in the position I am today. I will be forever thankful to Castleford Tigers for giving me this opportunity.
Watching Castleford get relegated in 2006. Then to go on to make my super league debut in 2010 and to be a 'one man club' for over 10 years with the Tigers and to have played over 250 games, including being part of the first ever Castleford Tigers team to ever win the league in 2017. I cherish so many amazing memories with this great club. I'd like to say a massive thank you to all, players, coaches, staff, fans and my family who have been involved on my journey along the way.
2020 has been a disappointing year for most, however I would like to give you the opportunity for all to join and celebrate my testimonial year. Events will be ongoing throughout the 2021 year, which I would hope you can all attend. if you would like to support or sponsor, please feel free to get in contact
thanks for your continued support, looking forward to seeing all and lets make 2021 a year to remember.

His form has dipped massively the last couple of seasons, but credit to where he's come from, he could have easily thrown his teddy out when Macca de-throned him at hooker. Arguably one of our most successful graduates from the academy.

Should have a few players having testimonial years in 2021.
Jordan Turner had already been granted one before he moved, now Milner has one.
Oliver Holmes debuted before Milner, so he’s due one!

Also feel a bit sorry for Shenton, who had so many of his testimonial events cancelled due to Covid.

I think his form went to a new height for a couple of years (like a couple of other players) who played above themselves
He's been a great servant to the club fully deserves a testimonial for me

Don't get many players now that are a one club man. Testimonial fully deserved, great servent to us. Hope he can find some form again, doesn't look as hungry for it lately.

Millington too. He’s mentioned in League Express that he hasn’t been given one.

He signed in 2012 so wouldn’t his be 2022 after he’s completed 10 years at Cas?

Possibly. It does say that he is entering his 10th year and then quotes him ‘unfortunately I won’t be getting a testimonial, though one of the other lads has one already approved’
Perhaps he was making the point that next season will be his 10th and last.

Add Massey to that list to be fair too.

I'm aware that Milner getting a testimonial was part of the conditions of him signing his new (inflated) contract, a couple of yr ago. Which I find pretty distasteful, him holding the club to it, considering players that have recently re-signed have taken a cut to do so and Shenton's testimonial yr essentially didnt happen due to the Covid disruption this yr. For me, he should have let the Capt have his testimonial next yr, considering it will probably be his last year playing.

🤔🤔🤔

I’m always intrigued how people know the ins and outs of a players contract. Not even my wife knows how much I earn...

Being able to get a testimonial more often than means it is more affordable in terms of value of a contract, not increases it, as the players is likely to accept a lower salary than that offered by other clubs due to the fact that they know a testimonial is a big financial benefit to them.

So I'm not sure how any player could hold the club over the table based on that. It is a benefit to them to stay at a club.

He may have got an uplift in his contract based on form but a testimonial won't have played any part in that.
