Makes a chance from everyone complaining about players getting 3 and 4 year deals on the back of 2017.

I think it’s a make-or-break year for him next season.
I think he’s a very good player on his day, but needs to find that consistency to make him a first-choice prop forward for a super league club looking to win trophies. He’s 27 now, so he should be coming into his best years.

No. It wasn’t. It was rumoured but never confirmed. Subtle, but there’s a difference.

Would we want Clare for 2 years?

I mean I don't rate him but he's no liability. Not bad for depth I suppose but with Eden and Feki thought to be our starting wingers and Shenton, O'Brien, Olpherts and so on as cover in the backs, do we need him?

Agree with you very good player on his day needs to go to a new level next year like a lot of the players in the squad who's contracts will be up by end of next season
DP said needs to be more durable that again applys to a fair percentage of the squad who's contracts will be up in 2021

I think we need Clare. We have been terribly unlucky with wingers getting injured the last few year.

James isn't blessed with any outstanding attributes.
However he has nevertheless found the try line regularly and made good yards.
He seems pretty durable and his game is still developing.
I am aware of the criticisms levelled at him sime which are not justified.
Good back up.
Daryl has faith in him.
That'll do for me.

Interesting that Clare was 15th in Superleague in terms of metres made last season

Glad he's staying with us. Was playing well before lockdown. If he stays injury free he should find some form again.
On Clare he isn't the best winger and he's not going to to be first choice if all our wingers are fit but he does make good yards and has made several breaks from our own half at times. He scores a few too and never let's us down.

Both not super league top five team standard but looks like we're going just for finacial and league survival next year

Yeah they'll both do a job as depth in the squad. As far as winger go we have 3 better options for certain and I'd even entertain O'Brien full back and Evalds moving to wing if we were ever that desperate so I wouldn't say we need Clare but it doesn't hurt to have him available. Probably wouldn't cost much. As for Smith, again I can name a fair few options that I'd take instead and for me he wouldn't be near our 17 but he can do a job if we are desperate and given how bad we've had injuries over recent years I'd rather see unnecessary players in than a shortage. Also with the rlwc coming up and league not starting til at least March who knows how crammed the games might be.

I think Smith is decent and has a good offload, I would have kept him ,he is a grafter that's what you want in a team, not someone who goes missing half a game

Steady deal!! Shame he isn’t as good as he thinks he is. Walks about with a swagger. Seen him in and out of shops - no face mask.
All coaching is, is taking a player where he can't take himself.
