Castleford Tigers are excited to confirm the signing of Jordan Turner from Huddersfield Giants on a one-year contract.
Oldham-born Turner brings plenty of experience to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle with nearly 300 top-flight appearances to his name and is expected to provide greater competition and depth in the centre position for the 2021 campaign, although he’s also able to cover in the halves and at loose forward.

I'm happy with these 1 year deals we're doing. Too many times in the past we've complained about players getting 2/3 year deals plus and getting too comfortable. Means they now have to play for a contract. Welcome Jordan.

Told Huddersfield are still paying out close to £100,000 on the salaries of Jordan Turner and Suaia Matagi next season despite them leaving for Castleford. The Tigers have got two players way below salary cap value, meaning Huddersfield cover the rest of the contracts

Agreed, not over excited about Turner if I'm honest but for 1 year, go prove me wrong lad.heritage1926 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 14:35 I'm happy with these 1 year deals we're doing. Re: Recruitment news coming up at 1.30pm
Sounds like Cas have played a blinder with Matagi and Turner.
Both of them will still be paid a proportion of their wages by Huddersfield (a combined 100k by all accounts) so we've paying them well under the salary cap value.

Haveing right clean out off rubbish at giants guess which muggs are getting them it's heart breaking need quality to get back to 2017. not other people's cast off which won't improve the team just add numbers to squad
Re: Recruitment news coming up at 1.30pm
By your logic, doesn’t that make every player who leaves a club “a cast off”?

Fair enough. We’ve played a blinder if it is right.heritage1926 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 15:06Aaron Bowers is a legit source to be fair. Re: Recruitment news coming up at 1.30pm
Hardly call Turner rubbish, he’s a quality centre with the right players around him he will stand out like he did at saints and matagi was Hudds best forward last year. Huddersfield don’t have cap space and are getting rid of there two higher earners. Can’t please everyone though.

Arnt they doing same with Ikieahifo at Salford not way I'd run my squad but there you gonottinghamtiger wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 15:01 Sounds like Cas have played a blinder with Matagi and Turner.

Well if what i've heard is correct, Watson is already upsetting the apple cart at Huddersfield and he's not been there a week yet.

Re: Recruitment news coming up at 1.30pm
I'm not jumping for joy with Turner's signing, but I do think he's better than Shenton. I would have preferred Mead or Sutcliffe, but Turner does make us better.
Matagi - he's been Huddersfield's best prop. I'm not sure why they are releasing him to be honest.
For the first time in a few years, I'm happy with our pre-season recruitment.
Evalds is a top full back and I think he improves us massively.
O'Brien is a very good player and will compete for a place in the halves - I don't think Trueman is guaranteed a start based in performances this year.
Matagi is a proven SL prop who makes more metres than most other props. We've needed someone with size and experience since Moors began suffering long-term injuries.
Turner gives us three options at centre alongside Mata'utia (who I think is our best centre) and Shenton (who clearly should not be playing every game).

I guess it doesn't matter to them if they have the money. They won't play for Huddersfield, so they won't count on their salary cap.tigerfeat wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 15:16Arnt they doing same with Ikieahifo at Salford not way I'd run my squad but there you gonottinghamtiger wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 15:01 Sounds like Cas have played a blinder with Matagi and Turner.
