Danny Orr Replacement

Post by Big Shug » 23 Nov 2020, 21:46

Lots of chat and rumours on players supposedly coming in.
Do Cas have plans to replace Danny since his departure.
Luke Robinson from the Giants anyone?

Sounds like promoting from within Danny evans or Casper or player coach eg Sheno as for players I don’t think we’re being linked with that many tbf 🤣

Going into coaching at Hull as it stands, according to his interview post (2nd) retirement.

Not sure what his plans are Fumper but he'd be a good acquisition for the role. That's the benchmark we should be aiming at.

This is the report where he says he’s going into “coaching at the club”, assuming the club is Hull

But thanks for the link

Its not fresh ideas or a different perspective.

I suspect that we will promote or appoint from within.

Powell puts a lot of emphasis on people fitting into his style of play and having his values.

Seems natural that present coaching staff, players or ex players will be his short list.

Agreed - he'd be my pick, dipping his toe in a little next season while also playing short minutes and then moving to coaching full time in 2022. I'd love to see him stop at the club when he hangs his boots up. Always assuming he wants to stay over here and not return back to Oz that is.

Joined Salford as Richard Marshall's assistant coach.
Danny Orr has joined Salford Red Devils as assistant coach.

The former Castelford Tigers assistant and Great Britain international, will now help newly appointed head coach Richard Marshall prepare the team ahead of next season.

Orr said: “I think this is a really good move for me, working with Rich. He’s an enthusiastic young coach.

“I’ve been speaking to Rich over the past few days and I’ll be focusing on coaching the attack. We have the same philosophy on a lot of things, but we’re also willing to challenge each other.

He added: “My mum’s a huge Salford supporter too, so when I told her I was joining, she actually cried.”

Orr revealed in an exclusive RDTV interview, which supporters can watch HERE, that his parents met while his dad was playing for Salford in 1970.

I guess at Cas he was one of the two assistant coaches, whereas at Salford he is THE assistant coach.
If he’s looking to be a head coach in future, experience at other clubs gives him a broader CV too.
And as in most professions, they could be paying him more than he was earning at Cas.

Seems like a good move for Danny.

I believe for him to be Head Coach at Cas at sometime in the future, he needs a wider perspective.

Possibly another move after Salford.

I believe he will return to Cas at sometime in the future.

To replace Powell or Powells successor.

Time will tell, but being a betting man......

We need fresh blood to assist powel. New ideas new perspectives. We seem to be so predictable at the moment even some of the players seem to forget what to do. One trap pony springs to mind. I like the Gaz Ellis shout but no chance. Mmmmm Luke Robinson really.
