Grand Finals

Post by Ken Smith » 21 Nov 2020, 00:23

Although this has been a disappointing season all round I think it’s safe to say that St Helens and Wigan have been the two best teams this season and are worthy finalists for next Friday. Nevertheless Cas for all their inadequate performances since lockdown have not been overwhelmed by these two teams and have saved their best performances against them. Cas have beaten Wigan 16-12 at home and lost 22-30 away, that’s an aggregate of 38-42. Cas have also beaten Saints 28-14 at home and lost 0-10 away, an aggregate of 28-24. Adding those two aggregates together gives us 66-66 and no team has come anywhere near those aggregates excepting the fact that Warrington only played Saints once, losing twice to Wigan but beating Saints 19-0 at home. In fact only Salford have beaten both Wigan and Saints at home and their aggregate over the four matches is 50-130. So all in all shouldn’t we be proud that arguably Cas have been the 3rd best team this year bearing in mind that they’ve actually only played 4 matches at home?

A different but very good slant on things.

Looking forward to next season although not looking forward to everything else in between.

Not the way the games works in reality though.
Each game is worth 2 points, regardless of opposition.

Wigan and saints have the ability to rise to the occasion, we don’t seem to be able to do that just yet but hoping next year that changes 🤞

Even that wasn’t quite true this season!!! All you had to do was win a few games against the lower sides, claim Covid against the better sides and ride it out on your win percentage.

Fair point. Games against Toronto turned out to be worth nothing too.
