Their current full-back is Kalyn Ponga.
Theve also got another good young full-back who played back-end when Ponga was injured
Money and lifestyle is miles better and he’s a very good player, hope he makes it in the NRL because it would give a good name for us.
Very good prospect I thought that when I saw him in the friendly
Aussie clubs can afford to take a punt on these young English lads (like they did for a long time with lads from New Zealand ) hoping to find another Herbie Farnworth

Concur with Tigerfeat, NRL is rich enough to let people play at junior levels for enough time to realise their potential, in the UK there is little flexibility for that.

Look at Darren Nicholls @ 28.

I've seen comments that hew can also play center so any versatility will aid his progress to pressing for a place in the team. The Knights my even develop other aspects for him and at 18 years of age, the world is his oyster.

Good luck lad but don't forget your beginnings.

And let’s remember he’s signed an NRL deal, not a development one. The minimum salary for a player registered to play NRL is over $105,000AUD (about £55,000).
At 18 that is crazy money and I can’t blame no one for turning it down, hopefully it’s been dealt with correctly and if he has the opportunity to come back he’ll choose us again.
Crazy money to us, but in Australia, £55k can go rather quick. Cost of living over there is triple our lifestyle.

Surely if he wasn’t tied up for 2021 he wouldn’t have needed the club’s permission?
Surely he was tied up though as, if not, his contract would’ve expired in two weeks and he’d be free to go wherever he chose?

We got fees for all three.
I’ve not seen anything from McLelland or Johnson to suggest we should have kept them (yet). Hodgson might turn out to be a world-beater, but similarly he might not. Let’s remember he’s only played one competitive open-age game.
We’ve heard it all before - people always moan about losing our best youngsters, but they don’t often go on to become superstars.
For years, Ryan Hampshire was supposed to be a ‘once in a generation’ talent and Ryan Brierley was going to be the best half back since Roger Millward.
I hope he does well, but we can’t assume that every young player that leaves the club will go on to be a top player because usually, they don’t.

Realistically I think it's the best move for everyone. Can't fault him for taking the deal and I'm guess Cas at least got some pennies for it which might go towards some desperately needed players for next year?? Also the reserve grade down there is far better than playing with the kids here. Bevan French was in reserves over there and look at what he's doing in super league. Hopefully he'll develop into a quality player and if he returns to England he might remember where he started.

Just to be clear, I was talking about Nottingham Tiger’s earlier post about the club not telling the sponsors that he wasn’t contracted for 2021

Australia is very expensive, from renting to food prices. Ie a schooner of beer (which is smaller than a UK pint can easily cost between £7-10 each.

If I was his sponsor I wouldn't be bothered other than that they paid out for someone who didn't play and i can't imagine it would have been that big for a young kid as opposed to say, a Liam Watts. His sponsor will probably get someone similar next year or maybe better, should they carry on.

But sponsors only get value if players play or the club hammers promotion of them online. Surely they knew that when sponsoring him?

Regarding Hodgson, great opportunity for him to learn his trade at a better calibre level (NSW Cup) than our under 19s since no reserves here. Credit to him for testing himself.

And if the player himself wants to go, what can the club do? No point wasting money on someone who doesn't want to be here. Good deal all around and hopefully he remembers this if he ever comes back and Cas want him back.
In the spirit of the final Blackadder episode - Goooodbyeee!

It would have been a good idea to swap Bailey, as a make-weight for a Newcastle prop, maybe Klemmer or one of the Saifitis' (or am I dreaming)

Good luck to Bailey. If he gets his head down and bides his time, he will take over the #1 shirt when Ponga goes to Union and fulfills his dream of playing for the All Black's.

Would have loved to have seen him in a Cas shirt more like

Would me too we’re going to see Bienek and one other forward from championship which when you look at KR bringing in Vete and Sims it does worry me a bit we’ve no size at all in the pack
