Re: Bailey hodgson.
Firstly, I don’t blame him. That kind of opportunity isn’t one to turn down. I just hope he’s mature enough to adapt to a move to the other side of the world, but from a career point if view it’s a great move for him.
The club will have some explaining to do to his sponsor, though.

Good luck to him what a fantastic opportunity for a young lad
Hope we've got first dibs on him if he comes back

Re: Bailey hodgson.
They were assured he’d be here next season when the club took their money for player sponsorship.sirocco7 wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 09:17How come ?nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 09:05 The club will have some explaining to do to his sponsor, though.
I guess things do change (eg Rankin), but the club knew he didn’t have a contract for 2021 but told his sponsor he did.
Unless Newcastle have paid a fee, of course.
Re: Bailey hodgson.
Argh right fair enough, but I echo your sentiments I don’t blame him what so ever. Australia is an amazing place and I don’t blame him one bit. Good luck Bailey .

And let’s remember he’s signed an NRL deal, not a development one. The minimum salary for a player registered to play NRL is over $105,000AUD (about £55,000).

Re: Bailey hodgson.
At 18 that is crazy money and I can’t blame no one for turning it down, hopefully it’s been dealt with correctly and if he has the opportunity to come back he’ll choose us again.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 09:32And let’s remember he’s signed an NRL deal, not a development one. Re: Bailey hodgson.
Typical of the club that we’ve not made an official announcement yet...
Re: Bailey hodgson.
I dont know the history of how Bailey Hodgson ended up at our academy but surely clubs should be compensated for their level of investment in him, when they turn 18 and walk straight to another club, similar to what they do in football. The example I'm thinking of is the Louie Barry situation at West Brom, when he just walked away as a free agent to Barcelona, but Fifa made Barcelona pay West Brom a nominal fee of compensation.

Re: Bailey hodgson.
From what it said in League Express the club were keen to keep him but had granted him permission to explore a move overseas.
Surely if he wasn’t tied up for 2021 he wouldn’t have needed the club’s permission?

They literally did 1 minute after you wrote this
It is what it is. Absolutely can't blame him for going to the nrl, I think its been known for a while and it might explain why Powell was reluctant to throw a kid in who was leaving anyway. He probably won't start over there but as pointed out you might as well rake it in over there and live the lifestyle over there till you do + he has family there. Don't blame him but I also think we were powerless. Wigan and saints in recent years have lost players to the NRL so if they can't keep em we sure as hell cant
Re: Bailey hodgson.
good luck to the lad, I have been lucky to go on three tours down under, both my wife and I agreed if we had seen down under before we got too old we would have been off like a shot

Re: Bailey hodgson.
Ironically, he’s gone from Cas (where he was behind Evalds and O’Brien) to Newcastle.
Their current full-back is Kalyn Ponga.

Re: Bailey hodgson.
Theve also got another good young full-back who played back-end when Ponga was injurednottinghamtiger wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 10:25 Ironically, he’s gone from Cas (where he was behind Evalds and O’Brien) to Newcastle.

Money and lifestyle is miles better and he’s a very good player, hope he makes it in the NRL because it would give a good name for us.tigerfeat wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 10:31Theve also got another good young full-back who played back-end when Ponga was injurednottinghamtiger wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 10:25 Ironically, he’s gone from Cas (where he was behind Evalds and O’Brien) to Newcastle.

Lifestyle; who knows? There have been plenty of RL players (and others) move there and not settle. Look at all those who are back in England after playing NRL, with varying degrees of success. Even Bateman is back next season because he’s missing his family. Rumours already that Luke Thompson wants to come home too. Moving to the other side of the world doesn’t work out for everyone. The idea is often different to the reality.

Re: Bailey hodgson.
Good Luck Bailey.
Pity we didn't see more of you in a Cas Shirt.
Too good an opportunity to miss.
Yes he may miss family and friends.
Not that socialising is possible at the moment.
Sun, security, facilities enough money if used wisely to. give him opportunities he wouldn't get here.
Good to hear we got a few.
Wonder if it was the much maligned Wells who negotiated it.
