I remember it well or as well as my frost bitten cranium can recall.

Was a fantastic team built around 3/4 class players and hard grafters. Crooks was best prop in the league as was Steadman being the best fullback. We had Blackmore arguably the best centre in the league on his day and of course big T who was world class.

How much would those players be worth in today's game? Also, to think did we get T. from Sheffield or York?!. What an unbelievable talent he was...Tigerman2014 wrote: ↑20 Sep 2020, 11:06 Was a fantastic team built around 3/4 class players and hard grafters. From York I think still gobsmacked a bigger club didn’t go for him and we got him. We have more grafters then class players at the moment

The good teams usually are.Tigerman2014 wrote: ↑20 Sep 2020, 11:06 Was a fantastic team built around 3/4 class players and hard grafters. I’ve always said you need a few players who are better than anyone else in their position and a coach who can make sure the tactics are built around them.
In 1994, we were all about getting the ball quickly to our right edge with Kemp, Nikau, Blackmore and St John Ellis. By the time the ball had been through the first three, Singe was usually left with enough space to do his stuff.
We did the same in 2017, but using the combination of Gale and Hardaker to open up space on the left edge.
