Re: Deadwood
If you go through every position from winger to loose forward we arguably need to strength. That's seven good players just to challenge.

Re: Deadwood
Apart from Trueman , watts and McShane none of our players would get into any team that were competing with to get top 4. Daniel Fleming is not going to help breach that gap I can guarantee you
Re: Deadwood
We can’t because of the garbage contract decisions given out by the coach and those above him. But it is what is needed over the next couple of years to become a contender.Casmoley wrote: ↑14 Sep 2020, 06:38The Firm wrote: ↑14 Sep 2020, 01:54Add in Feki & Blair for me as well. Just not getting any value for money out of them and both taking up a quota spot.
To be honest theres Evalds, Trueman, Richardson, McShane & Watts that are the keepers. A couple of decent squad men Massey, Griffin, Smith & Holmes. Young guys like O’Neill & Hepi are worth a place to see how they develop. A case could maybe be argued for a couple of others, Olpherts springs to mind, but i wouldn't be fussed if him and any of the others not mentioned were to depart. Won’t happen though.
Aye, I'm sure we'll keep 11 and get rid of 19 players...
Then again they do say you can’t get rid of a squad of players but you can change the coach....
Re: Deadwood
But this as been going on since Powell arrived it was always going to go belly up if we kept getting the recruitment retention wrong he got players to play above themselves from day oneTigersbarmy wrote: ↑14 Sep 2020, 08:20 Apart from Trueman , watts and McShane none of our players would get into any team that were competing with to get top 4. How many of the 2017 team at the start of the season would have got into a Saints or Wigan side

You could put a case forward for Mata’utia.Tigersbarmy wrote: ↑14 Sep 2020, 09:43 How many of our signings have been a success since 2017? Watts ? Is that it ?
Came into the squad mid-season and was far better than anyone else we had been trying at full-back.
Maybe made a mistake thinking he was the solution long-term, but was playing well in his natural position at right centre before lockdown.
But beyond that, recruitment and retention has been abysmal.
Probably also worth mentioning that those two players fell into the club’s lap too. Watts transfer-listed at Hull and Mata’utia allowed to leave in the Leigh fire-sale.

There’s more players on that list that have been poor rather than good

Each to their own but I respectfully disagreeTigersbarmy wrote: ↑14 Sep 2020, 13:50 There’s more players on that list that have been poor rather than good
- Clark, everyone was up in arms when he left
- Matautia is great
- Watts awesome
- Rankin was pretty good
Smith, Clarkson and QLT were/are all solid players and played a part as is Clare.
Olpherts and Richardson have started this season well, Griffin has been pretty good and O'Brien has been awesome.
We never got to see Lo through no fault of our own. Aston did ok in the games he came in but never got a consistent chance. Jury is out on Feki, Hepi and Blair.
Wardle didn't work out as didn't Green. I think there have been more hits than misses, and certainly more decent squad players than weak links.

I don't know if GOB as other offers or if he wants to stay but it would be great if we could keep him I've watched West Tigers play and Maguire as a back on the bench
Probs go but he's a real good player to have in the camp

Re: Deadwood
Isn't it more about players out of contract at the end of the season that may not be offered new contracts and will be leaving?
"Moving on" for players who have a contract for next year is not really an option is it? Unless another club step in and offer them at least the same terms.
