Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Not many complained at the time, when we got a six figure sum for one of our highest earners, who’d not hardly played in the previous two years

Very true and I was glad we got rid of Gale as I thought he would end up with another injury at Leeds. However he as not and Leeds have won a couple of matches now because of him alone. I like Richardson but he doesnt have enough experience when Cas are in tight matches.

Powell must be wondering where the hell some of these lads from 2017 have gone!

Powell is good, he's very good and 10 other SL teams would have him tomorrow, i'm sure of that.

He went to Featherstone first and played first team. Hudds signed him from there.

At Cas he was 4th choice behind Gale, Roberts and then Trueman came in.

If he stays with us long term, Richardson that is, he will gain a lot of experience over the years.
How old was gale when he came to us, 26/27.
Richardson is only 23. There’s time.

What's a "good enough wage" for a back up halfback then?

The salary cap exists. Cas aren't a rich club.

Listen to jon wells interview from pre season before 2019 season , he told james Deighton we was up to the salary cap , if last year we was up to the salary cap and so are Saint Helens , I know which squad I would rather have , tells me a lot of players on way too much coin

There's a few factors to bear in mind with this. Because we aren't a glamour club, we have to pay more for players. With better facilities and a better off-field we would be a more attractive proposition. The 2nd is that Saints have such good youth development that invariably a lot of their lower grade players will be on low salaries. Whereas we have to stack it on more senior players.

I would also hazard that we have space, as do all clubs, in case of injuries and for bonuses etc.

It wasn't Richardson that missed the tackle vs Wire. It was Foster and McMeeken.

I don't think the team is necessarily bad. We just lack size and energy in the forwards that we have lost with Lynch, Millo, Moors all retiring or getting older and Cook being injured. I do also think we are potentially missing Blair who seems solid defensively.

Backs wise I think we are OK and it will be good to see how things change when Feki does get fit and has a run.

I always thought people in Cas knew RL but these comments about replacing DP make me wonder.
The club is not on par with the likes of Wigan, Saints or even Leeds & with their facilities and the likelihood of silverware they get first pick of the best players at all levels. If a player was offered the same contract at Cas & Saints which club do you think he would choose?
DP is the reason we are can talk about Cas being regular top 4 contenders and some people here either have very short memories or haven't been following Cas for very long.

Not read all posts but I'd be surprised if many want Powell out apart from the OP who is one of the biggest trolls ever been on here

No way would I let DP go.

However there are many questions that needs answers.
Where the xxxx is Feki ?
What's matter with Eden...........
The young reserve forward O neil looks a right talent. Play him.
Some of the older forwards are done. Moors and Jess have had their day in my opinion.

However as I always say in DP I trust. He stands or falls by and on results.

We have had no luck , some bad calls and our season is about over. We need the cup run.

Powell is not a God and he gets things wrong time and time again. Cas have gone backwards since 2017 and Powell is the reason in my opinion. What have we won nothing and dont spouf on about the hub cap. Whenever we have been in a match that means something we have bottled it big time. At least Wane looks peed off when his team loose a match too much smiling from Powell and the team to be honest says it all.

Libellous claims there Gateman if what you’re putting can’t be proven.

Isn’t the salary cap live, so that you can’t signa player of you don’t have the cap space to pay them?
