Peanut at 6?
I've posted this theme before.
Blooming heck.
He's not a bad player.
He's not a half back.
Never will be.
No attack threat.
Played like a left centre / second row tonight.
Feel pretty pisxxx off tonight.

Re: Peanut at 6?
O'Brien was a halfback before (and for longer) than he's been a FB
Foster is a second rower, he doesn't pass the ball at all as a centre
Turner & Hodgson are both available
So why not have GOB in the halves, Peanut at centre, one of Turner/Hodgson at FB and Foster in for McMeeken who can hop on a plane to Perpignon.

Re: Peanut at 6?
Move McShane there and people moan we’ve moved him from his best position.
Move O’Brien there and people moan that we have no other full-back.
It’s the consequence of no half-back cover whatsoever.
If we were taking the season seriously, we’d be bringing back Aston or another half from the championship as cover. But we aren’t.

What's the point of Hodgson & Turner in the squad if Powell flat out refuses to use them?nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑10 Sep 2020, 23:15 Move O’Brien there and people moan that we have no other full-back.
That's the biggest knock on Powell for me, he does not trust the kids and will jig the team around in often times nonsensical ways just to avoid giving them game time.
Seasons gone, give them and the likes of Peachey a go.
Re: Peanut at 6?
Hodgson should play fullback Sunday as GOB won't be playing. Move Pete back to centre and Foster back where he is best in the second row.

Can't understand why the best coach in the league can't see what us 8k fans can see......

Exactly. There’s a reason Daryl is a well thought of coach and we are mere supportersSuffolkTiger wrote: ↑11 Sep 2020, 20:56Any coach that listens to the fans soon ends up standing with them.....!fords wrote: ↑11 Sep 2020, 20:51TheSheriff wrote: ↑10 Sep 2020, 23:13 O'Brien was a halfback before (and for longer) than he's been a FB

Mata’utia cracking centre but not a half , (not his fault ) wells or Powell’s fault why he’s having to play there in the first place , we don’t have any cover at all at half and that’s down to either Powell or wells

Re: Peanut at 6?
I think it’s fair enough to question why we have no half back cover.
I think we’re the only squad with only two half backs.

Re: Peanut at 6?
Maybe Powell saw Rankin as half back cover. He couldn’t have foreseen how the season would pan out, leading to Rankin leaving after 7 games.

Maybe we have tried to get cover at the halfs. We did have Rankin but we didn't see him going home mid season.Tigersbarmy wrote: ↑11 Sep 2020, 21:46 Mata’utia cracking centre but not a half , (not his fault ) wells or Powell’s fault why he’s having to play there in the first place , we don’t have any cover at all at half and that’s down to either Powell or wells
There are lots on here who are aiming fire at the coach and the players. What about the men in suits at the top table? We have a chairman who isn't put any more money in (if you need Casmania to remind you,he's getting his inheritance back with added interest), could the board do better? Why do we seem to pay over the odds in contracts for players?.... especially ones represented by a certain agent!. If those at the top aren't pulling their weight, it effects recruitment and investment in youth development doesn't it?
Re: Peanut at 6?
We have spent money for players some of it not wisely that's down to Powell and Wells
Wardle was bought from the NRL to be the back rower we needed in a short time we were hawking him around other clubs to get rid of him

Re: Peanut at 6?
It took us over a year to announce Blair as replacement centre for us jurys out on that one
It took us longer to replace Zak at full-back with Mata'utia within a short space of time it was clear he wasn't a full-back
You can't keep on making mistakes with players and hope to stay a top four side

Re: Peanut at 6?
I’m not sure that our club have ever been consistently good at getting all the key elements of squad management right over a sustained period of time:
- maintaining a core squad of solid professionals on suitable contracts
- attracting & securing 2 or 3 high quality individuals in key positions that really make a difference (possibly from overseas)
- developing, introducing & retaining quality young players that become either of the above
- releasing players who are in the twilight of their careers before they consistently underperform versus their own standards
Saints get the spinning of these 4 plates right. Wigan to a slightly lesser degree. Wire sort of. It’s why they are the most successful sides. Give DP any of those club’s systems and he would deliver trophies every year.
