We need to be smarter though.

Watts knew what had happened against Saints, but just carried on playing and moaned at the ref who didn’t see it. He should have been on the ground making sure play was stopped so the video ref could look at it and make a decision.
Same with Millington. Should have held his head, kept the ball and gone onto his knees, forcing the game to stop and let the video ref have a look.
Both times we allowed the game to continue despite knowing serious foul play had occurred. Once that happens, the video ref can’t get involved.

Players should stop the game or go down injured!! Need to play smart. Both Watts and Millo should of gone down or stopped game.

I hope we win, the because we’ve had nothing go for us.
A clear head-butt goes unpunished, and the player who should have been sent off goes on to seriously injure another player with an illegal crusher tackle (and is only sin-binned).
Unfortunately, the crackdown in punching has allowed grubs likes Smithies to get away with their underhand and cowardly tactics. He wouldn’t be doing it if he knew retribution might be immediate. I remember reading about the player who Garbutt smacked, who said he felt invincible before that incident and changed how he played the game afterwards so it didn’t happen to him again.
Someone needs to put Smithies in his place, but we could do with it being someone from another team so we don’t cop a ban!

Genuinely feel like I’m done with the game. The whole sport is amateur at best. What’s the point of playing when the results are decided before kick off by the man in the middle. I haven’t missed it half as much as I thought I would during lockdown - they don’t deserve my time nor my money.

I can see the frustration, though. Two red-card offences completely missed by the referee and two touch judges in consecutive games.
But we need to realise that our own errors and individual poor performances have cost us the game. We can’t rely on outside factors to win. Until we stop making basic, unforced errors we won’t win many.

No one is blaming the ref. Merely asking the question why a blatant headbutt (or two) is clearly missed yet they see none existent forward passes, etc

According to Ian Smith (ex ref) the head butt was not a sending off.
Reason being......you won’t believe this.
His head hit Farrells arm first, this is an ex ref.

If you use twitter go have a look.
I couldn’t believe what I was reading.

The problem is that the fear of immediate retribution has gone.
Whilst we’ve more or less eradicated punching, the consequence of that has been the rise in grubby players like Smithies feeling comfortable enough to do things that would have resulted in a good beating in years gone by. He knows he’s not going to get battered into next week, and for me that’s not a good thing.
I read an interview with James Tamou who said that he cut out his grubby play after Mitch Garbutt flattened him. He wasn’t expecting what happened, and realised that it might happen again if he carried on.
I’m not advocating going back to the biff of the 80s and early 90s. But we’ve created a physical game where players know they can do whatever they want and the worst that can happen (but probably won’t) is a yellow card. It would be a much cleaner game in general if there was still the potential for more a immediate and painful consequence for grubbiness.
Thing is that when someone does inevitably batter Smithies, it might have the kind of effect that Willie Mason had on Stuart Fielden and make him realise he’s not the toughest bloke on the field. At the moment, he’s that kid at school who likes to act the hard-case, but tends to stay near the teachers so nobody can put him in his place.
