Gareth O'Brien signing
Re: Gareth O'Brien signing
Sure I can remember someone telling me we tried to sign him before he went to Toronto
Hope he can play at Weekend otherwise I'd play Turner at full back put Eden back on wing

Re: Gareth O'Brien signing
Fair enough but worth a try while he’s here. Nothing to lose, we need a utility back up and he needs a club. In the current climate things can change and offered a secure contract he’d be daft not to at least put some thought to it.Fumper27 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 15:39Given:derbystiger wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 15:36 Good move and desperately needed. Would make a great utility back up going forward too if we can persuade him to stay past this year.
- GOB has gone on record to say he wants to play fullback
- we’ve signed Niall Evalds for 2021 and beyond
- we’ve two great young halves in Trueman and Richardson
I think he’ll be using us to put himself in the shop windows for a club over here for 2021....Hull KR maybe or whoever replaces TWP (if they get replaced).

Re: Gareth O'Brien signing
With Wolfpack situation being what it is will he be cup tied.?
I don't know the answer hence the question.
Just as an aside on people professing their legal knowledge
It's defamation!
Looking forward to having a full back playing fullback.
Still would like to sre Bailey Hodgson given a go.
As part oof my lock down entertainment l seem to recollect Truman having a good game against Wigan until he made a howler.

Can't be surely. With Toronto dropping out of the league and teams surrending their points won against them, then surely they don't count towards the CC and G'OB can play.casjunction wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 15:58 With Wolfpack situation being what it is will he be cup tied.?

I think one internet alias taking legal action against another internet alias on the basis of defamation (not deformation) would be a fantastic legal first.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 14:11Be careful what you spout on here, you have no proof to back up your comments. YOU said about a week ago Evalds was coming if Cas paid a £5k fee which they obviously dont want to pay like I said months ago but was shot down for suggesting Salford changed the goalposts with asking a fee.
Read it back my friend. What I posted was what I had been told, in good faith. I never claimed that it would or wouldn’t happen, unlike some, who said the deal would be announced back in June.
Also, how were you shot down “months ago”. You’ve only been a member in the forum for three weeks or so
However, one last time for you:
Please tell me where I said he was coming?Fumper27 wrote: ↑02 Aug 2020, 19:33 From a source I trust:
Salford wanted £15,000 for Evalds, Cas refused
This has since reduced to £5,000, Cas again refused
My source thinks that Evalds will be a Cas player for the rest of the 2020 season, within the next two weeks.
Kane Evans was almost a done deal before lockdown but not too sure now if it’s still on the table due to finances
I was merely relying information I thought would be best shared on here.
Unlike you who made various claims, none of which have come true. You even went as far as creating a new profile on this forum.
PS Gareth O Brien confirmed
I’ll represent either or both of you for free, but only using my alias (obviously). We’ll all hide behind screens in court for a bit more fun!
Re: Gareth O'Brien signing
Cas not wanting to pay £5k to get one of the best fullbacks in for the majority of the season is laughable

Agreed. Can't quite fathom that one out. I can only imagine that they knew O'Brien on a free was available and plumped for that just to get by until 2021. Oh to be a fly on the wall when these negotiations are being made.

Originally Salford wanted a lot more than 5k which is why hes still at Salford.heritage1926 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 17:24Agreed. Can't quite fathom that one out. That’s spoiled it a bit Notts. I was starting to wonder how soon the enormous legal bills would rack up, but the club (and you) will get more publicity if it goes ahead, so go for it!nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 16:07I think one internet alias taking legal action against another internet alias on the basis of defamation (not deformation) would be a fantastic legal first.westerbeast73 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 14:11Be careful what you spout on here, you have no proof to back up your comments. Re: Gareth O'Brien signing
As others said, paying out for a player after asking the existing squad to take a pay cut doesn’t seem quite right. Also, we get him for free from next seasonheritage1926 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 17:24Agreed. Can't quite fathom that one out. Re: Gareth O'Brien signing
Originally Obrien was not in the picture to come to Cas. They have had to go for him because they failed to get Evalds in due to Salford changing the goal posts. Think hes a decent player but if Toronto had not gone into meltdown this would never have happened. Cas got lucky this time as Eden is deffo not the answer to the fullback problems.

Re: Gareth O'Brien signing
Good move by the club, they had to do something regarding the full back situation.
Probably that attempted pass by Eden at the end of the game was the clincher. It was like he had never passed the ball before!

Re: Gareth O'Brien signing
Not being ITK all these amounts of money being banded about are pure speculation.
So we could all come up with a figure and no one on here has evidence to prove or refute it.
I acknowledge Cas business methods seem unfathomable but for all that we have confounded our detractors since DP signed on the dotted line.
Ps welcome aboard Gareth

Yes it does. Cas thought eden was the answer once again. All about money I'm afraid typical casFlat Capper wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 11:28 From the reports I've seen it seems to have happened fairly quickly following Saturday's result which begs the question, why didn't we do it sooner, like as soon as we knew the situation at Toronto?

Re: Gareth O'Brien signing
Obviously a good signing considering the farce cas put on show Saturday. We need players back as soon as possible, they should have all come back fit and raring to go after nearly 5 months to get fit and injury free, but no not at cas I'm afraid. Bit of a joke their training and rehab regime
Re: Gareth O'Brien signing
Hes played most his career at half back n only when he went to Salford did he start playing full back.heritage1926 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2020, 10:46He's an out and out fullback now. He fell out with McDermott for not playing him at FB. He'd be a costly back up for FB.

as anyone any knowledge if he is cup-tied ??
Re: Gareth O'Brien signing
It sort of counted as Huddersfield are now out of the cup.
