Season restart

Post by Lofthouse Tiger » 26 Jun 2020, 16:16

Been waiting, like most of you , to hear anything about a restart or at least the players going back to training. It has been very quiet from the RFL and the club so when do we expect any kind of announcement?

I did see something a couple of months ago talking about an August restart but nothing much more than that.

Does anyone know anything more than that? Would an August resumption be realistic now we are almost in July?

Many other sports have are big strides to start again but nothing on or from the RFL.

So the neutral grounds are likely to be Leeds, Warrington, & Saints? Maybe add Huddersfield,Hull & Wigan to that if they can work things around the football fixtures?

Leeds, Wire and Saints. Also Salford are in talks. Definitely not Wigan, Hudds or either Hull clubs.

The concern i have is playing a lot of games at the same venues...could the playing surface handle the multiple games?

Looking at the injuries piling up at a certain venue in Australia should be a warning to S.L bosses. Good example of that was Victor Radley this morning

I believe Stade Brutus may be able to have crowds of up to 5000.
It is probably too controversial in terms of managing the pandemic, although the last few days suggest that argument has been list on some (many)
Obviously Catalan could not play there as it would not be neutral.
The revenues could be shared and it would bring some atmosphere.
I realise it is a rather absurd suggestion but Red Hall and logic are hardly on nodding terms.

I suspect we’ll see three games played at the same ground on a Saturday and three games somewhere else on a Sunday.
Obvious choices are larger ‘RL-only’ stadiums such as Headingley, St Helens and Warrington. Maybe the AJ Bell or evening the LSV (depending on what happens with the lower divisions).
Just hope we don’t have to play at Saints too often.
Can’t play in Catalans are there is a quarantine period of 14 days for anyone coming into the UK from France,

On the quarantine issue.
By August the Air Bridges which l believe includes France should be in place.
Does this therefore negate the need for quarantine.
The cost of the travelling for teams would be a bigger issue but the attendances could subsidise those cost.
I don't believe it's feasible but as l said before
Rugby League is not blessed with good management.

Thanks OCL.
So that answers the quarantine issue.
As an aside.
The reason some grounds are not used is the clubs who play there share the facilities and are the lesser partner and may be rendered as not being cost effective as rent would have to be paid further reducing the money available to clubs.

This seasons a joke whoever wins it you can’t take it seriously with playing games at a few venues.

Would rather we played at neutral venues than not play at all. If we get Evalds in early we've got a good chance of winning silverware.

I can’t see promotion and relegation when teams like us can’t even play at our home ground. Looking like another year in the championship for Featherstone😂

I’d rather Featherstone be in SL than Toronto. Massive increase in revenue if we played Featherstone at home versus when we play Toronto
