Best overseas player
These debates often come up and always lead to a healthy discussion.
Mllington has been interviewed by the club and this was a part of the discussion. We have had some exceptional players from overseas and it isn’t an easy call so who would you choose as your favourite? Just one name and why would be good to see.
Tawera Nikau for me.

Re: Best overseas player
I always thought Nikau was over-rated.
Only joking, I think he’s by far the best overseas player I’ve seen play for Cas.
Followed closely by his good friend Richie Blackmore - a devastating centre who had everything - pace, strength, footwork and the best I’ve seen at drawing in defenders and giving the winger a walk-in try. It’s no wonder Singe scored a ridiculous number of tries playing outside him (though not to take away from Singe’s ability, he was a great player in his own right).

Re: Best overseas player
Sorry, LT, mines a 2 name answer! 'Best' and 'Favourite' are 2 different things. Nikau was the best I've seen play for Cas. However, my favourite overseas player is Millington - the loyalty he's shown for our club I don't think will be matched for a long time by any overseas player for any club in SL.
Re: Best overseas player
Longevity Millington.
For just oozing class Nikau.
Seeing some do things with the ball ive never seen Chase.

Tawera Nikau.
Re: Best overseas player
Too young to pick Nikau. For me has to be Millington for his absolute passion and commitment to the club and Rangi for pure brilliance on the ball.

You can name a long list of players for different reasons; Nikau, Blackmore, Vowles, Davis, Dorn, Chase, Raper, Eager, Fritz etc. For the length of time he has been here and the contribution he has made to the Tigers it has to be Millington for me.

Re: Best overseas player
Loved Rambo Ronnie as a cult hero.
Vowles was a talisman for us and similar to Millo who has served the club immensely.
In the end though it has to be either:
Nikau- a truly world class legend
Or in terms of pure skill, Rangi is probably the most naturally gifted ball player we have ever had.

Re: Best overseas player
I agree with the distinction between best and favourite.
Best - I think it is hard to look past Nikau, if there was an NBA style hall of fame, he would be in it!
Favourite - it is difficult for me to look past the 1999 team - Vowles and that squad should have marked a step-change, but we let it pass. Millington is long term great, but I think we are looking at that with 'recent bias' the fact AV picked up MoS made a massive difference and marks him out for me.

Re: Best overseas player
Why don’t we have a hall of fame?
We could highlight zak on the unofficial hall of shame too.
For best offloading forward I’d say Michael Smith. Playing in our team right now, he would be quite unstoppable if he adhered to the regime and culture.
For terms of impact and ‘wow, look at him’, it has to be Tawera Nikau. He really was a Silky forward, but, did go missing some times.
Vowles obviously needs a mention and I agree Rangi was our most magical overseas signing,
I saw Ronnie Gibbs. He was great, but more novelty than much else.
Fritz was the best tackler I’ve ever seen.
Grant Millington has seen so much in his time here and I’ve never heard of his Agent ever linking him anywhere else. For. Forward to be able to play stand off, and set tries up, it’s unheard of really.
I’d go grant.

For longevity and consistency Millo would have to be a standout,Nikau was exceptional,I always had a soft spot for Bartrim who even though not in his prime oozed class but for all his personal failings Rangi Chase is the only one I've ever seen set up a try with a pass that if I hadn't seen I'd have said was impossible, momentary brilliance perhaps but sheer bloody genius.

That’s funny when it’s clear to everyone (apart from your strange self) that I meant Millington at prop.

Re: Best overseas player
Funny how your sarcastic response to my pretty innocuous observation on your clear comment about forwards that I could think of some examples that met it other than Millo leads you firstly to take it upon yourself to speak on behalf of ‘everyone’ and secondly to make personal comments on ‘strangeness’ and ‘dog kicking’ about me and then suggest that I’m the one picking on you
