Millington - Yes or No
Re: Millington - Yes or No
This is the interesting thing re Smith, a virtual unknown before joining Cas, Powell again massively improves a player, it gets them interest from other parties and they forget just how they have got so good. Off they pop to another club and do nothing.
The good thing for me is we seem to have learnt the value of players and if they cannot see the benefit of playing at Cas potential wise then they can go.
I like Smith however he is replaceable

What clause would that be??? He signed for a certain number of years and he’s fulfilled that obligation. What else could the club do Likewise, what exactly has Smigger done wrong if he does leave?blinkstudios wrote: ↑28 Jun 2020, 22:55blinkstudios wrote: ↑28 Jun 2020, 22:48 Dan Smith trying to get more money basically.Hope Cas in future put clauses inti contracts when they take players from other clubs who are middle of the road.

Agree pal and I have said this myself before.blinkstudios wrote: ↑28 Jun 2020, 22:08 I personally wouldn't want another Andy Lynch situation were he stays 1 season too many and cant deliver on the pitch.
Everyone on her clamoured for Andy Lynch to be given a contract for the 2017 season. He then played a bit part and was essentially, in my opinion, a waste of money.

Re: Millington - Yes or No
Exactly this. Players leaving at the end of their contract is the norm. Either because the player can earn more money elsewhere, or because the club chooses not to retain them.Fumper27 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2020, 08:05What clause would that be??? Niall Evalds is leaving Salford because his contract is ending. I don’t see many people suggesting he should be forced to stay at Salford.
I’d be disappointed to lose Smith (more so that McMeeken or any of our other players who are out-of-contract). He suits our style of play and I think he’s been really good since he arrived. But he’s not irreplaceable and he’s entitled to do whatever he wants when his contract ends - it’s a short career and RL players are not earning big money.
If we had players like Trueman, Richardson, McShane and Watts out-of-contract I’d be a bit more concerned. Alongside Evalds (hopefully) they are the players to build a team around and losing any one of them would be a big loss.
And not forgetting the most important individual at the club - Daryl Powell is the key to our success. No player is as important as Powell. As long as he’s at the club, we’ll do well.
Re: Millington - Yes or No
This will be happening at every club players who are off contract in November not getting there contract renewed or being asked to take a pay cut or in some cases a big pay cut

Agreed with all it can be a bad time to be out of contract for some.
Some players will move on and other will be released by other clubs as they all balance the books in this uncertain financial period (and SKY support).
Not renewing contracts is a quick money save but leaves the squad a bit thin!!

Re: Millington - Yes or No
I see a situation with a number of players across super league who come November wish they had taken the offer they first had ...but we will have to wait and see on that one

If rather loose calum turner and give the extra money to Smith.
Fast track hodgson thru for back up or get scouts scouring lower leagues for loan back up

I’d rather lose Callum Turner over a lass behind bar.

Re: Millington - Yes or No
Callum Turner is a weird one for me. Not agile or fast enough for a fullback with the way we play - compare him to Evalds and he's a million miles away, but he also doesn't have the vision for an halfback. Watched him most his junior life and i struggled to pin point a position for him back then. He's one of them that offers good utility value without actually being good in a position.

I appreciate we have strong rumours of signings on the way but with noises of McMeeken gone, Moors gone and now Millington possibly going, will we experience too much upheaval?

Tbf out of them 3 we are used to moors not playing. So no detriment.Flat Capper wrote: ↑29 Jun 2020, 15:53 I appreciate we have strong rumours of signings on the way but with noises of McMeeken gone, Moors gone and now Millington possibly going, will we experience too much upheaval?

I still think millington will stay and finish his career at the club.

Also rumours of Daniel Smith looking elsewhere...Flat Capper wrote: ↑29 Jun 2020, 15:53 I appreciate we have strong rumours of signings on the way but with noises of McMeeken gone, Moors gone and now Millington possibly going, will we experience too much upheaval?

I read it as if.....
Millington will be signing the deal
But another forward Dan Smith is heading for market.

Moors going?
Mcmeekan gone?
Smith going?
Ones injury prone, one's a diva and the other a so so player none will be missed. Junior before his injuries was immense, but, it seems father times caught up with the lad.
Would I give millo a year? YES I a heart beat. His body seems to be failing him though, but, his leadership and guile are immense, so, Daryl will take that into account and do what's right by cas.

I agree. Millington yes another year. If Smith is asking too much show him the door.init wrote: ↑29 Jun 2020, 07:53 This is the interesting thing re Smith, a virtual unknown before joining Cas, Powell again massively improves a player, it gets them interest from other parties and they forget just how they have got so good. Re: Millington - Yes or No
It will be a shame if we have to lose Smith as he as proved his worth with us. He is probably the only player in the squad who deserves an increase as he was on a relatively low wage having been brought in from Fev in the championship trying to get his career back on track.
Smith will only improve with us and is at the right age to become a regular member of the 17 man squad for years to come.

I’d be more disappointed to lose Smith than I am to lose McMeeken, or potentially lose Millington or Moors. He’s hitting the right age for a prop and suits our style of playSharlotiger wrote: ↑29 Jun 2020, 21:32 It will be a shame if we have to lose Smith as he as proved his worth with us. However, he’s no Liam Watts. I think Watts makes other forwards play better, Taylor was a better player at Hull Fc when he had Watts setting the standards. Likewise, he’s leading the way for Smith. As long as we don’t lose Watts, we’ll be fine.
Re: Millington - Yes or No
Are you still confident we've signed Kane Evans ? Either way I'm sure another good prop will be incoming if that happens Smith dosnt make my starting 17 he has done ok tho and in yesterday's RLE it said we had made him a offer he's just decided not to sign it that's fair enough he does whats best for himnottinghamtiger wrote: ↑29 Jun 2020, 23:13I’d be more disappointed to lose Smith than I am to lose McMeeken, or potentially lose Millington or Moors. I said few weeks ago we wouldn't be able to keep everybody with three expected incoming
If we have a spine of Evalds Truey DR and Mcshane Watts and another good prop then there's more than enough good players at Cas under Powells coaching to make us one of the favourites to win a final next season that's how I see it

Re: Millington - Yes or No
It has been interesting to note that Kane Evans has not appeared for the Eels these last 2 games and whether this is a result of injury or the club standing him down due to an impending transfer is debatable - Does anyone know why he's not played or who is in the know on this ???tigerfeat wrote: ↑30 Jun 2020, 07:26Are you still confident we've signed Kane Evans ?
