Mike McMeeken, Grant Millington, Daniel Smith, James Clare, Matt Cook and Calum Turner are among those off-contract and all are currently in talks with the club, with further activity expected this week.
Of those, I think Dan Smith would be the biggest loss. I hope we can keep him.

I think the poster means that these are the players currently in talks.
I guess we have decided not to renew Moors” contract.
Sene-Lafeo is also out of contract, but I guess has either signed an extension already or has decided to return home.

Been told Moors is done at the end of this season, possibly going back home. Not heard anything on Jesse.

Didn’t Jesse sign a 3 year contract in 2018 which would run out in 2021

My understanding was that the three-year deal signed in April 2018 included the rest of the 2018 season, so covered 2018, 2019 and 2020. I could be wrong though, and hope I am!

Cas offered him a one year deal but he heads for the open market is a headline in tomorrow's RL Express

We should keep Millo, he wants to stay, and he would be a great bloke to have at the club while a few players come and go. He's a good bloke and I'm sure would help new blokes settle in. Of course his time is limited, but we are better when he's on the field than not.

I personally wouldn't want another Andy Lynch situation were he stays 1 season too many and cant deliver on the pitch.

The headline is somewhat misleading, and there is a subtle but important difference between your words and those used by TRL.

They actually say "Tigers offer Millington one-year deal – but forward heads for open market". When I read that I assumed that the "forward" in question was Millo. This is not the case - they are mixing two stories, Millo and Dan Smith.

The section on Millo ends with "he now has an offer to consider and a decision is expected in due course". The article then goes on to say, and I paraphrase here, that Smith has not agreed a new deal and will listen to other offers.

Hope that helps :)

It's just so happened a number of our players are off contract at the end of a virus hit season

I'd guess Smith will go to Leeds and Milo will sign on for next season

This is the interesting thing re Smith, a virtual unknown before joining Cas, Powell again massively improves a player, it gets them interest from other parties and they forget just how they have got so good. Off they pop to another club and do nothing.

The good thing for me is we seem to have learnt the value of players and if they cannot see the benefit of playing at Cas potential wise then they can go.

I like Smith however he is replaceable

Milo 1 year ext no worries

What clause would that be??? He signed for a certain number of years and he’s fulfilled that obligation. What else could the club do Likewise, what exactly has Smigger done wrong if he does leave?

Agree pal and I have said this myself before.

Everyone on her clamoured for Andy Lynch to be given a contract for the 2017 season. He then played a bit part and was essentially, in my opinion, a waste of money.

Exactly this. Players leaving at the end of their contract is the norm. Either because the player can earn more money elsewhere, or because the club chooses not to retain them.
Niall Evalds is leaving Salford because his contract is ending. I don’t see many people suggesting he should be forced to stay at Salford.
I’d be disappointed to lose Smith (more so that McMeeken or any of our other players who are out-of-contract). He suits our style of play and I think he’s been really good since he arrived. But he’s not irreplaceable and he’s entitled to do whatever he wants when his contract ends - it’s a short career and RL players are not earning big money.
If we had players like Trueman, Richardson, McShane and Watts out-of-contract I’d be a bit more concerned. Alongside Evalds (hopefully) they are the players to build a team around and losing any one of them would be a big loss.
And not forgetting the most important individual at the club - Daryl Powell is the key to our success. No player is as important as Powell. As long as he’s at the club, we’ll do well.

This will be happening at every club players who are off contract in November not getting there contract renewed or being asked to take a pay cut or in some cases a big pay cut
