Millington - Yes or No

Post by Lofthouse Tiger » Thu May 28, 2020 9:32 am

Millo would like another one year deal with Cas for 2021. What are your thoughts, yes or no?

It’s a big Yes from me

Yes! With how he’s gone this year he deserves another contract as long as it’s good for both parties.

My instinct says yes.
But if signing Millington for one more year means we miss out on another top player who might be around for much longer, then we have to be ruthless. Or if signing Millington means we don’t have the cap space for Sene-Lafeo, then we need to prioritise.
I hope he stays, though.

No. Whilst he’s been a great servant to the club, time has caught up with him. A few good games against a few poor teams (Hull KR didn’t even have a championship level set of forwards when we played them) doesn’t cover his 2018 performances.

Everyone here clamoured for Andy Lynch to be given a year for 2017 and look how that turned out, he hardly played.

If we have real, top end ambitions, we cannot let sentiment distract us.

Can’t just name the weaker clubs we’ve played this season.
He had a cracker v Wigan and a decent game v saints.
If hes not asking daft money, one year won’t hurt, like you say though if it stops use from signing a good young un then that’s a different scenario.

But I’d like to see him do another year.

IMO, he still brings so much to the squad, on and off the field. Deffinately another year for me.

He has earned a new contract in my opinion.
He is one of the most versatile forwards with so many attributes to his game.
Not a sentimental judgement but based on form.
I understand the argument about salary space and quota spots.
However l think he can contribute for at least another season.
There are no guarantees a replacement would settle in, be injury free fit in with the club.
Having said all of this.
I think there is sufficient integrity in the coaching staff they along with the often maligned Mr Wells will make the decision wisely.

Yes. Big yes for me.

Someone above mentioned Andy Lynch and how he hardly played his final year, but lets not undervalue leadership and experience on the training paddock.

If we can squeeze 10-15 games out of millo in a forwards rotation, i think it'll be worth it.

I will admit to a huge amount of bias as millo is my favourite player.

It's a funny one he wasn't good last season ,the games we played this year he was back to his best
Id say another year myself

Give him another year providing he isn't asking for silly money.
