Anyone in doubt about Hodgson needs to listen to the recent pod casts. Ste Mills in particular. I hear what you’re saying about DP and youth but when did we last have a youngster been mentioned like this kid at 17? Agree, Leeds did it with Walker in a final. Tony
Daryl clark
How old was he at Debut, might be wrong but I'm thinking 17 if not just 18. Tony
You are right. He was 8 days passed his 18th birthday when he debuted from the bench at home against Huddersfield.
Therefore, the last 17 year old we got excited about would’ve been Joe Westerman
But there was plenty of buzz around about Clark before he made his debut, and rightfully so
So the answer still is Clark

If you say so. Luis Johnson was talked up but left before getting an opportunity. Callum Mcclelland was talked up but left before getting an opportunity. Therefore, the answer is one of those players

I put Brierley in but he was almost 20 when he left Cas, so edited him out

Be interesting if it’s anyone other than evalds.if they have a storming season(turner or hodgson)and we’ve signed evalds for next season be harsh they lose their spot for him.i personally hope we’ve got evalds in early

That would be my preference, too. And it seems likely.

I’ll throw one in, James Clare, been outstanding this year, very capable of playing full back And has done so in emergency.
I know some posters will not ever give James credit, but for me a better option than most of the others being bandied about.

I recon we'll see a fair few injuries depending on how long a "preseason" the boys get so we might need all the options we got. Tony

We went through this when zak left the club. We all agreed we needed a first grade fullback this is a position that is the spine of any team.

Personally, Clare for me would be the answer for this season if Evalds isn't gonna be here early. Turner/Hodgson can be used as back up if needed. Leave Olpherts, Feki and Eden to fight for the 2 wing spots. Theres no chance i'd even think about moving Pete from centre for 2 reasons - I think he's played fantastic in the centre and moving him would mean shifting Blair back to centre and I think Blair works far better in the back row. Obviously the best outcome would be to get Evalds in early ready for the restart but I don't know what the financial situation would be for that so it could be a no go. Who'd be a coach hey?!

Clares a reasonable option.
As already stated he has his critics.
Not that l am a stats man.
I am sure someone will produce them if it suits.
I have never seen why he attracts so much criticism.
Yes he's short on pace.
He knows it and works within hiis limits.
He brings the ball out positively.
Knows his way over the white wash and is defensively sound.
Gives a 100%.
Not a superstar but a very reliable squad member.

It's even more pivotal in DPs systems as most of the attacking play involves the FB , having the nous to be in the right position and call plays alongside the HBs is crucial

I think hodgson is a bit young yet.
I know if your good enough your old enough.
But if the lad makes numerous mistakes and fans get on his back it could knock his confidence.
Suppose Powell will know best.

Agreed, but then some of the best come through making their debuts at 17 and it's worked alright at Leeds. He's being in with the first team now for a while and I doubt they wrap in cotton wool. In DP we trust. Tony
