He has no option at the moment so if he wants to get his career up and running he will play where he is toldheritage1926 wrote: ↑26 May 2020, 13:37Madness that someone of Gigot's calibre is having to use clubs as a stop gap to get his career back up and running.MrRugby123 wrote: ↑26 May 2020, 12:55If he plays well for us, a contract should be offered by us as he provides cover in the back line and the halves. If he comes to us he’ll certainly be better than Rankin, personally I see Tony Gigot as a top player if he’s in the right environment and around the right people.StevieTheTV wrote: ↑26 May 2020, 11:55 Gigot until the end of the year.
Best outcome for both, he will know he wont be staying so will turn in some good performances to earn a contract elsewhere in the league. In turn, Cas will have one of the most naturally gifted players in the league turning in quality performances.
Before we signed Rankin, if you would have offered me Gigot or Rankin, I would of taken Gigot every time.
If people think he'll come and sign a contract to be a utility for us then they are well mistaken. The reason he left Catalan is because they wanted to play him out of position and he wasn't happy. He turned down marquee money because of it!

Re: Rankin
Wouldn't waste the brass on Gigot, Even if Evalds doesn't come early Olpherts who for me was good before the lockdown has played full back and we have Hodgson and Turner in the wings.
Re: Rankin
Gigot will not have a problem finding another club. And if people on here think he will are delusional. If he wants to come to Cas good luck to him. But as I stated if we don't want him plenty will mmmm Leeds?.
Re: Rankin
I must be in a very small minority that doesn’t really think gigot is that good.sure he has a good highlights reel but he makes as many bad decisions as good ones and at times is a liability.i do agree that if we don’t bring someone else in we are considerably weaker now rankin has gone as nobody else has played full back with any success from the current squad.fingers crossed for evalds earlier than planned
Re: Rankin
Yeah think that's a good shout playing olpherts at full back played full back at amateur level so not new to him and having 4 wingers pointless to 2 of them sat in stands when we can use 1 at full back and save a few quid and use it next year for long term new signings not a few month stop gap but personally think will get evalds over before we restart

Re: Rankin
We have a string of players that have played full back that doesn't mean they are good enough for rest of year, hopefully we can get Evalds in early.Fevtiger wrote: ↑26 May 2020, 17:44Yeah think that's a good shout playing olpherts at full back played full back at amateur level so not new to him and having 4 wingers pointless to 2 of them sat in stands when we can use 1 at full back and save a few quid and use it next year for long term new signings not a few month stop gap but personally think will get evalds over before we restart
Re: Rankin
Between olpherts, Turner and Hodgson I think we have enough to cover the full back slot. Don’t need to use money on gigot. Would rather use the spare money in other ways with the current financial climate.
Re: Rankin
We have seen what happens when we take the cheap option with stop gap fullbacks Over the last few years, we have started to look better since JR moved there but we still didn’t always get it right. I think Jordan lacked that extra yard of pace that put Zak ahead of everyone we have tried there and he was the best of the ones we tried. It’s good that we have moved for NE to finally fill that gap but we can’t wire off another year without a fullback of genuine quality. Look at some of the 2017 games where ZH chimes I to the line, it’s not that teams didn’t know he would do it but because of his pace and footwork he hung around the middle and made his move at the last second which made us hard to read. If NE can’t be brought in early the it would be Gigot for me.

Re: Rankin
I think the same. If we can’t get Evalds in early because Salford want to keep him to the end of the year, or it will take us over the salary cap, then Gigot would be great for the rest of the season.
He might even want to start beyond a year, and he’s a fine centre too,

Re: Rankin
I have every confidence that Evalds will be joining us before the resumption of matches.
Rankin was never going to be here next year after the Evalds signing was leaked.
We now have money available to make it happen.
Simples.!!!

Lets hope Salford signed Gigot and we can work out a deal that sees Evalds come to us this season.

I hope we start chopping and changing at full back again.

If the season starts again and we play to a finish and we don't bring in Evalds early or another full-back we will be a lot weaker than we were before the break came when we had Rankin imo43s flyer wrote: ↑31 May 2020, 12:34 I hope we start chopping and changing at full back again.

Re: Rankin
Callum Turner is not a super league fullback I’m afraid and playing him there would end all hopes of winning anything this season when we get started back again.
Re: Rankin
Poor from Rankin to be honest.
Wouldn’t want peanut at FB he’s been great at centre.
Turner looks to slow and overweight to play super league.

Re: Rankin
I wouldn't say its poor from Rankin. We don't know the full reasons behind it. Hess just had a baby with his partner and all his family and hers back in Oz.
Re: Rankin
Her Pops was very ill. They couldn't say when they would return to the UK so Powell had to make a decision. She wanted to see her dad with his grear grandchild for the 1st time. It was too late, he passed away before they made it off the plane back in Aus. Think before you type.
Also calling a young lad slow and overweight will help him out tremendously.
